Xander joined us eventually, and before I knew it, we were back in our room. I was exhausted. Freya muttered, “Not sleeping will do that to you.” My wolf might have a point. Or it was a serious lack of coffee today. Freya snorted, “I think we did just fine without the coffee.” I fell asleep with Xander.
I woke up feeling antsy. Freya linked, “Sorry, it’s been a while since we shifted and I really want to run.” I felt bad. I apologized, “Freya… I’m sorry. I’m just not used to having a wolf. If you ever want to run, just tell me… I know a lot of people shift at least once a day… and I haven’t done that for you at all.” Freya assured me, “I will do that next time. Remember this is all new to me too.” We were learning together.
I ran outside and quickly shifted. It didn’t take long for Xander to join us. I let Freya come all the way forward and drive. My wolf deserved her play time. I knew she was communicating with Oden. I was just glad to be able to give them this time.
For four years, I thought Oden wouldn’t get this with me. He could with his chosen mate since I believed he wanted to reject me. The thought of him with a chosen mate still filled my heart with pain. Freya linked, “Mate always wanted us though.” She was right, he did.
When we shifted back things were about to get hot and heavy when I smelled someone coming. It turned out Dylan wasn’t about to let anything interfere with his meeting. I had to admit… he was really funny. I wished I’d known him longer.
I noticed the signs that Dylan hadn’t slept yet since I’d gone through them enough. He was shaking slightly from the coffee intake and his eyes were a little bloodshot. I think he could run off pure excitement at this point though.
Dylan had figured out Xander’s watch was special. It was actually just like mine. Mine was different from everyone else’s.It could do more… technically Xander’s could do more than mine. His held multiple Laxenread injections and a tablet to inject. It also had the vial for werewolves, MDTJ. Along with the Hackura serum… mine had no reason to hold those other than MDTJ.
We ended up back in the living room for the strangest conversation of all time… and that was coming from me. I felt that was a serious indication of how strange it was. I linked Abigail and Sierra, “I mean honestly… ascending. We are all ascending… after the way the last few years went could you guys even imagine this is where we were headed?”
Sierra snorted, “No.” Abigail agreed, “Yeah, I was just hoping for a mate that didn’t hurt or cheat on me. Ascending to a council with my mate to assist in helping future generations did not make the vision board.” I nearly laughed out loud.
This was surreal. I was a goddess. It was all too much. It wasn’t surprising to me in the slightest about Haley and her family. It did irk me that the powers that be knew their system was crap, leaving all this in one person’s hands.
They basically said yes, this will be bad… when we used to be good… but we are giving this individual thing a shot. Eventually, after it’s gone so far past the line of good and bad that you can’t see it anymore… we will fix it. It was annoying.
Selene hadn’t been good at her job for a long time… in fact, she made sure my life was altered. It appeared like the descent began when the O’Toole’s took over Faerie, before the Holloran’s took it back. That was centuries ago at this point.
Why not fix it all right then and there? Nope, just let everything go to hell then fix it… after several more centuries since none of us were ascending anytime soon. Haley did have the ability to take and give wolves now.
So, it was a moderate protection, I guess. Still, it felt more like a bone they were trying to throw at us. That I didn’t really feelobliged to give them. They messed up, and they knew it. Then they decided to take freaking centuries to fix it.
I was trying not to laugh as Dylan basically strutted around with an air of amusement and annoyance that he knew he was right. He was such an interesting person. Lacy, his mate, looked at him like he was the most amazing and interesting person in the world. That wasn’t surprising though, all mates did… well the ones I’d been used to before being thrown into Black Path… but Mason and Hendrick were my bright spot there.
Dylan was funny and kept this whole conversation serious, but light hearted. When it was honestly anything but that. My feelings about it all were complicated. Freya and Xander were confident I was the right choice for her.
I guess we’d find out… what I did know was that I was at least better than Selene. With Xander to help and a council like set up… Eric would be helping too. So, this was manageable… and my family was going to be involved… with Si and Abigail… Val… Addison… Paige…definitely Kinglsey and Angelique too… we were together even in death. That tracked for me.
Eventually, drinks were had. We all sat in silence. I linked Sierra, “Why is it so quiet? I can hear all my thoughts… and they are LOUD!” Sierra snorted, “I’m impressed you’re letting it be quiet. That’s such progress for you.” I mean… I wasn’t… I was talk to her.
Plus… it wasn’t uncomfortable to everyone else… just me…. but there was this weight to it. A weight of knowing what was coming and this destiny that we had before us. Something we were all outspokenly working out how to do a better job than our predecessors. Which honestly wouldn’t be hard.
After a few drinks Freya started projecting images of Xander and me. I linked her, “FREYA!” My wolf chuckled, “It’s not just me. Now that we have a mate, alcohol makes you horny too.Though from your memoires you flew solo thinking of him when you were drinking.”
Oh my god. My wolf really did know all that! She had all my memories. I linked, “I mean… well…. I… there… you… that’s…” Freya laughed, “You can actually do something with him now instead of imagining it. Although you were quite inventive. Kudos to your imagination.” That was true… Xander was with me now.
Freya said, “You could even do all the things you thought of at those times.” No one was paying attention to us, so I led Xander out of the room quickly to my office. Sierra linked, “AH HA HA! I saw that. I did. I spotted it.” I replied, “Well… umm… say nothing.” Sierra snorted, “Yeah, I’m aware of what had a few drinks Melanie wants to do with her Xander.” Nope. Closing that link right now.
I’d pictured Xander and me at my place in Nashville… but my office here worked too. It was closer, and I didn’t want to run to the holoport. It was too much energy and effort. We needed to be naked now. My wolf was trying to drive me insane with her projections from my own imagination.
I needed Xander this very second, and I wanted him to take me on this desk. Xander’s eyes flicked back and forth to black. His blue eyes came through and my husband snapped my desk clear of my folders and papers.
Xander laid me down, pulling me to the edge and spread my legs. His finger traced my clit. I moaned as his fingers circled me before starting to rub my most sensitive area. I moved my hips with him. I whispered, “Xander.” He just grinned at me.
Xander huskily said, “My mate and wife, wants me to have her on this desk. I intend to do that in every way I can.” He inserted a finger inside me as his other finger kept rubbing. God, was he using two hands? Freya snickered, “Yes, he is.”
Of course he was… but my mate was moving too slow. I bucked my hips to increase his pace. Xander chuckled, “So impatient. My wife is in a hurry, but I’m not.” Hearing him call me his wife was doing things to me.
My husband bit the inside of my thigh and whispered, “You like that. You like when I call you my wife.” God, I really did. Xander slowly brought me to a release with his fingers. Before I even came down from my high his tongue was licking me.
I gripped my desk unable to keep my hips from spasming. My mate’s fingers started moving in sync with his mouth. Xander brought me so close to my orgasm and backed off three times. I didn’t understand. I cried out, “Xander, please.”
Xander smirked, “Do you want to come again, my wife?” I whimpered, “Yes.” His mouth was mercilessly back on me. My mate’s fingers were moving faster than before. I gripped the desk and screamed his name, “XANDER!”
