Aeidelyn’s journal was probably not important, but I couldn’t put it back on the shelf for some reason. I sighed and stuffed it into the duffle bag. I found a few more books Angela might want. I also found one that Theo and Max might want about their abilities. I found several books about Aiden, Haley, and Arion. There was actually a whole book on what Arion could do if he hadn’t died.
There was even a passage stating that Haley and Arion’s mates would not be Fairies. I frowned and said aloud, “Ok…why has no one been in this section?” Freya was still silent. I asked, “Freya?” My wolf admitted, “I can’t tell you. I’ve tried and I’m blocked from saying the words for some reason.”
I rolled my eyes, “Selene is the devil.” Freya snorted, “I’m beginning to agree.” I asked, “Can you tell Oden? Then he and Xander could tell me?” Freya snickered, “Tricky.” After a moment she huffed, “No, I can’t tell him either.” I groaned, “Fine. This is ridiculous.”
I found more books and filled my duffle bag then wandered out of the library. I didn’t want to believe the obvious answer. Everywhere else in the library was pristine, except the section I was in. Angela said she’d been in the section I found the book in.
Logically the answer was that I could see through charms. So obviously, someone didn’t want these books out in the light of day. One of whom…. had to be Alania. She had to know about the Promised siblings long before it happened if Fenilton did.
Fabian didn’t know… so it came down to Alania and maybe someone else hiding this from Haley, Aiden, and Arion. Alania had to throw in the books that would’ve helped Angela or her other grandpups. Most were about Angela’s abilities though, which were also her own.
I’d read a few sections and knew how Alania avoided visions of Haley and found moments she wanted to see. That evil woman literally blocked Haley’s path unless she wanted to see a specific moment. I had no doubt she’d found out about Eric.
I was wondering what part she played in the Claudia situation when I found Aiden and Xander. The duffle bag felt like it weighed a thousand pounds as I stared at Aiden. His father’s last letter to him was in my possession.
I definitely needed to speak to Haley the second we got back. I needed to give this to them right away. I asked questions about the library and noted the narrowing of Aiden’s eyes as he said he’d speak to the staff. I was pretty sure he suspected I’d stumbled on a section no one could see except me.
Aiden’s reaction made me think he thought the same. I could see his curiosity at what I’d found. Little did he know there was no way he could guess his dad had left him a letter there. Xander popped us home and headed off to find his brother.
I stood for a moment unsure of where to go. Sierra walked in announcing, “You have a meeting with your grandmother in fifteen minutes in your office.” I nodded, “Alright. Please tell her to stop scheduling time to talk to me. Grandma Esther… can just come by. Wait… you mean her, right? Or did…”
Sierra interrupted, “It is her, not Helena. I will tell Esther she doesn’t need to schedule meetings. How was everything?” She studied me then groaned, “What’s wrong?” I evaded, “Do you know where Haley is?” Sierra raised an eyebrow, “I do. She’s in the gym with Eric.”
I nodded, “I’ll be back to meet with my grandma.” Sierra said, “Ok. Are you ok?” I whispered, “I found a lot of things in the library. This one is weighing on me, and I need Haley’s help to resolve it.” Sierra nodded, “Ok.” I took off for the gym.
I found Haley and Eric easily. Haley had just finished sparring with Marcus. Eric went and picked her up, kissingher. I flushed knowing I was going to interrupt their…sexy time. I fumbled with my hands trying to figure out how to say something.
Marcus cleared his throat while staring at me. I said, “Umm… I… was… hoping to talk to Haley, but I can… wait... well… kind of… no… I can… well… I’ll just write a note… I could do that.” Marcus laughed, “Dear lord little sister, please talk to your daughter in law. Alexander is busy and can’t stop the rambling.”
Haley pulled away from Eric and studied me. My mother in law agreed, “Let’s go talk in Eric’s office.” Eric followed behind her as did Marcus. Blade also appeared, looking intrigued. I winced, thinking maybe I should’ve just told Aiden.
Haley asked, “What’s going on, Melanie?” I sighed, “I found… some… well… I found a lot in the library.” I held up the duffle bag as a way of explaining. I continued, “In a super dusty section…which makes no sense, because the whole place literally shines but this one section with all these super helpful books about the promised siblings and….”
Eric interrupted, “There is no dust in that library.” Haley hummed, “Yes, but Melanie can see through fucking charms. Goddamn it! Who the fuck would hide that shit?” I winced. Marcus said, “I think your daughter in law knows who.” I did… I just didn’t want to.
I sighed, “Based on… ugh… that’s not what I wanted to talk about… So… I need you to tell Arion I need to speak with you, him, and Aiden. I need to bring something with me that belongs to all of you… which I acknowledge, doesn’t sound like it makes sense… but it does… I swear.”
Haley frowned saying, “I can tell Arion. I’m sure he will pull us all somefuckingwhere whenever we want. What did you find?” I cringed, “It’s a letter addressed to Aiden, Arion, and hopefully Haley. I’m sure based on that you know who it is… Ihave theories on why it says ‘to hopefully Haley’ based on who it’s from but…”
Haley’s eyes blazed and she jumped up. My mother in law shouted, “That motherfucking bitch!” I looked away and glanced right at my father in law. Eric looked really angry. Marcus sighed, “You believe Alania hid the section then.”
I nodded, “Yes. I found a lot of books for Angela about her visions. There was an earmarked passage about hiding specific parts of…” I glanced at Haley and continued quickly, “someone’s paths. Finding specific moments… and what not.”
“This is honestly just a theory, but I’ll bet Alania found out about Haley and Eric and set some of those crazy she wolves into his path. Because… I mean… the charms… obviously… were Hexxus… but like he’s not exactly a self-starter, so… someone told him to give charms to umm a certain person.”
Eric growled. Haley laughed humorlessly, “Of course she did. Alania probably told Fabian Eric was important to me, so she suggested using Hexxus to put Claudzilla in his path.” I muttered, “Probably not just her. There’s a lot of crazy she wolves about Eric that have been around.”
Plus, Cassandra seemed obvious as a co-conspirator in that plot. When no one commented I nearly cheered because I had an inside my head thought. Freya agreed, “You did. Good job.” Haley growled, “I will kick Alania’s ass!” I said, “I’ll bet Fenilton made a promise not to talk about you all being the promised siblings. It has to be why he hasn’t said anything.”
Haley groaned, “Probably. Or he thinks Aiden found his damn letter. Does Aiden know you found it? Neverfuckingmind. He doesn’t, or you wouldn’t have the letter.” I flushed, “I just… I thought… you all should get it together… and since Arion is… ummm more complicated I thought…”
Haley waved her hands, “No, you’re right. We should get it together, that was clearly Fenilton’s fucking intention.” I toldher, “Arion can send me back as soon as I give you all the letter. I really think this is a moment the three of you should have. It’s what Fenilton wanted.”
Haley gave me a hug saying, “You are such a sweet, amazing soul. I’m so glad you and my son are together.” I blushed. Eric linked me, “This is a good thing you are doing.” Marcus asked, “Any other books we should know about?”
I said, “I’m going to make copies of the O’Toole family tree I found and send it to everyone. There are names I didn’t have. Maybe we can piece together who survived.” Marcus nodded adding, “I’ll let Bjourn know. We have been looking at our own records, but a Fairy record will be the most accurate.”
Haley added, “It will be. Because once someone is born the book records are charmed to add their name. No one can be missed.” Well, that was good. If only the book was charmed to tell you if they were alive or not.
