I found Melanie in another room that changed to the desired scenery of the first person who entered. I wasn’t surprised it was a forest. Wolves loved being outside. Melanie’s annoyance over the amount of clothes I had on was comical.

My wife was only wearing high heels. I never thought that could be a turn on, but damn was it ever. Melanie naked wearingonly high heels was definitely a turn on. I teased her. It felt like Switzerland all over again, because I could take my time.

My wife surprised me by pleasuring me first. I wasn’t going to let her out of this room until she passed out on her own. Melanie was going to agree never to hide our plans from me again. She’d flash to this moment and want more like it. I was going to make that happen. Oden approved my plans, “The wolves agree.” Which meant Freya was on my side. It didn’t even take me very long to get my wife to agree.

Melanie’s eyes were fluttering closed by the time I popped us to my room here. I kissed her forehead urging, “Sleep, my beautiful wife.” She was instantly out. I studied my mate for a few moments before pulling her into me and joining her.

I woke up in the Beyond. I stood calling, “Uncle Arion?” I heard, “Not this time.” I turned and smiled. I greeted who called me, “Grandpa Fen.” He smiled, “You’ve grown so much. I swear you were just a young man the other day. You get taller every time I see you. It makes my boy so very happy to call you here.”

I said, “I’ve enjoyed getting to know him. I wish he could have still been with mom and Uncle Aiden.” Grandpa Fenilton sighed, “As do we all.” I asked, “Why did you call me here? Where is Uncle Arion?” Grandpa Fenilton smiled, “He’s off doing things he can because he’s ascending to a god. He is with your Uncle Aiden though. They just have another guest with them. One I do wish I could meet.”

I replied carefully, “Ok.” Fenilton smiled, “You learned so much tonight at the New Year’s Eve party. I wanted to see how you were doing. I know you boys so fret over your mother. Have no fear, she will win her fight.” I snorted, “You can’t know that.” Even though I had absolute faith in my mom.

Grandpa Fenilton smiled, “Knowing certain things is something Aiylee inherited from me. I do know your mother will win her fight. I also know that you know that. Just as I know, there will be forces that come against you and your mate. You knew that too though.”

I sighed, “If we could just defeat the Ring….” Grandpa Fenilton interrupted, “In due time, plenty of things are going to come to light soon. Continue to be brave, young Alexander. I have often told my son that it is a good thing you all have such broad shoulders, like your father, to carry such burdens that you do. I don’t want you to forget to be the young people that you are though.”

I sighed, “Easier said than done.” Grandpa Fenilton smiled sadly, “Yes, I see that too often with this group. You still need to have fun, Alexander. Your mate does as well. Melanie’s a very studious, exceptional, and talented person.” I boasted, “She is.”

Grandpa Fenilton cautioned, “You are meant to balance her in ways no one else could. You are a wolf, but you have your mischievous Fairy side. Do not forget about that side. There are days coming when some light hearted fun will be needed.”

“Even your parents had their breaks. Before all hell broke loose, your mom orchestrated a water balloon fight in the kitchen of your home. Those days were never meant to happen to her again, and I know my sons took it harshly. Haley still finds the fun though.”

I snorted, “That sounds like my mom.” Grandpa Fenilton smiled, “Yes, it does. Haley’s still got that light about her. You have that in you as well. There will always be times for being serious. Just don’t forget, you are a young man who deserves to have his fun. I’m sure Angela would be more than happy to help you plan mischievous fun things.”

I laughed, “Angela and Klaus would be more than delighted if I joined their fun.” Grandpa Fenilton smiled, “Just think about it on occasion. You do have many serious tasks at hand, but sometimes you need to let your hair down and have some fun. Whatever it is that you consider fun.”

I nodded, “Thank you for the advice. I wish you were still around.” Fenilton smiled, “Maybe in another reality I’m around to give you the advice grandpa’s do.” I hugged him. I knew he considered my mom to be his daughter. He meant it when he said he was my grandpa and always had.

I told him, “I hope I see that reality since I’m in the Ribbon.” Fenilton smiled, “As do I, and while the Ribbon is a gift; I’m sorry your mate suffered so you are in it.” I agreed, “Yeah, I wish it hadn’t been her. I don’t know how to process it.” Grandpa Fenilton chuckled, “With her at your side.” He tapped my forehead.

I woke up in my bedroom in my Uncle Aiden’s house. What surprised me was Melanie was still in my arms. I’d assumed she’d be up cooking or dancing. I linked Oden, “Did Freya and Melanie unlocking their full powers cause her to be more tired?”

Oden answered, “I don’t think that’s what’s going on.” I studied my wife. Even in her sleep my mate’s brow was furrowed as if she was thinking. I looked over at the clock startled to realize how long Melanie had actually been asleep. A full eight hours.

Oden said, “We’ve been hoping for that.” I reasoned, “You know I’m happy about it, because she clearly needed the rest.” I just didn’t know that I trusted it wasn’t some goddess thing or that she was actually getting restful sleep.

If Melanie was just tired, she must have really need the sleep. Grandpa Fenilton was right. I needed to make sure Melanie took some time to have fun. She was only twenty years old. She’d had such a serious life so far, and I wanted to make sure to sprinkle some light heartedness into it.

I was on Melanie the second she woke up. I teased my wife and she asked if it counted if she was talking to someone. If Selene pulled her while she was sleeping, I was going to bepissed. I was surprised to discover that Uncle Aiden and Uncle Arion had been talking to Melanie.

Of course. Oden agreed, “It does make sense.” It did. Grandpa Fenilton was not only offering me advice but easing my mind about why Melanie was still sleeping. I’d have woken up and watched her sleep for hours becoming more and more concerned. I wished for what felt the millionth time Grandpa Fenilton hadn’t died in this reality.

Melanie explained how my uncles came to be in her dream. It made sense Uncle Arion could go into someone’s dream. I wasn’t shocked my Fairy Uncle’s wanted to talk about the O’Toole’s. I couldn't have been more stunned when Melanie told me Charles’ history with them.

Or part of their family. As much as I didn’t like Charles, my heart twisted in pain for him hearing how his mate died. To feel her as he would’ve as his bonded child and knowing she was dying and he was unable to save her.

No wonder Charles retreated into himself. He had every reason to. I was surprised he continued on with his undead life. I would die if Melanie did because we were twice light bound. I couldn’t help but wonder what kept Charles going.

I begrudgingly admitted the man clearly had more to his story than I cared to find out at first. I might not punch him the next time I see him. Oden sighed, “If he’s more respectful, then fine. No punching.” At least we were in agreement there. Losing one’s mate was not something I wished on my worst enemy; especially now that I had mine. She was everything to me.

I’d read about the O’Toole’s, but killing a woman because she chose to be with her mate over them when they were ruling in Faerie? Clearly, they hadn’t changed. God. They really were just awful for centuries.

Those rat bastards introduced brutal customs into Faerie. They were why mom was treated so harshly. Even after theirreign ended, some of their traditions stayed. I couldn’t say I was upset that I might get my hands on an O’Toole.

I was certain I could come up with very creative things to do to them if they were still sick and twisted like their ancestors were. There could be some who were good though. So, I’d have to bring in Cassie to be sure. They didn’t all deserve to suffer because their family preached hateful, spiteful things.

Only if they were doing bad things themselves would I inflict every terrible thing I’d learned on them. I’d get justice for my mom because she’d deserved to be loved here. I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow they pushed Fabian to murder Fenilton because he would’ve loved my mom. That seemed right up their alley.
