“I think they knew the promised siblings would have a partial in the core group. They wanted to prevent you all from reaching your destiny. I think… well… that your father figured out that it would be you guys. I think his mistake was telling your mother… or she told him… but I know he figured it out.”
Aiden asked, “Why do you think that?” I sighed, “There are rumors of your father’s powers. I think plenty of people assume Alania saw it, but I don’t think she did until your dad told her. She’s too selfish to look that far into your future.”
“Alania cared about herself and those motivations. If she was truly monitoring her sight as she should, she would've saved your dad. Alania’s selfish but I think she did truly love Fenilton in her way. Not that psychopaths can love… but in their way. It was mostly about the adoration he gave her. Alania never would’ve given that up. She didn’t pay attention and she lost him.”
Aiden raised an eyebrow, agreeing, “You are right. It was our dad that figured it out.” I sighed, “I don’t know who Alania bragged to. It wasn’t Fabian or he would've used Haley and you two in other ways. It was someone… who wasn’t truly loyal.”
“I think the O’Toole’s figured it out when Haley came along… or they were tipped off… or they were just watching your family. I’m not sure. I think there may be more information. I think they played the long game.”
“They were the royal Earth family before everything went down and they were removed from Faerie. It stood to reason eventually one of them would be mated to a member of your family. I think they wanted to prevent the promised siblings from happening so they could… recreate them.”
“I think an O’Toole was turned into a Vampire after having two full blooded Fairy children. Maybe more O’Toole’s have been turned at this point. I think in their minds… even though it’s crazy… I think they thought they could re-create the promised siblings.”
“With the two full blooded children, then… by then having another child… a partial Fairy and Vampire child. As long as you all never realized how powerful you were… they had to feel they had a chance.”
“They tried to drive light itself from Faerie with what they were doing to Haley. They let Fabian abuse her. I think he worked with them, but they knew they couldn’t tell him howimportant she was. The O’Toole’s just fueled his evil…. and hatred of partials.”
“The ultimate goal was to break her… possibly take Haley so everyone could see they won. Which is crazy because they had light itself… and they knew it… but they didn’t weaponize her… maybe that was going to come later? I’m not sure.”
“I don’t know that part is not solid to me… I think your grandparents might be involved… well your great grandparents. On your mom’s dad’s side of the family, because… where they did they go? Why are they never mentioned?”
Aiden commented, “I do not think you are wrong.” I asked, “Do you know they are behind this then?” Aiden answered, “No, I found that Fabian was in contact with some of the O’Toole’s. The only way they could have escaped was if our own family betrayed us.”
“After the sacrifice made by great-grandfather’s side, using the Soul Eater to kill the King, it’s despicable. They know the sacrifice he made and they spit on it. He gave up the centuries he still had for the hope of the promised siblings and Faerie. Then he did not get to rest in the Beyond.”
I frowned asking, “Why not? Your mom and Fabian are there. Why wouldn’t Azoney interfere and take him there?” Arion said, “Our ancestor sold his soul, and those who sell their souls go to Hell.” I argued, “False. Fabian sold a bunch of pieces of his soul… and he’s not there… so honestly that tracks. Azoney didn’t step in with the person she should have.”
I waved my hands in the air adding, “You could go talk to him… I mean your ancestor who paid the price, Arion.” Both of my mate’s Fairy Uncles startled. I asked, “What? You can. You’re practically a god already. You can go to any place… Hell is no exception. Your ancestor might know if someone betrayed the family and who it is.” Arion laughed, “I like her, brother.” I pursed my lips.
I asked, “Have you been to see Cassandra?” Arion smirked, “I delight in ruining her day. I have seen her many times. I saw her many times before she died in her dreams, and I have seen her since. She is still in a state of limbo which is easier for me to get to.”
I asked, “Limbo?” Arion smiled, “There are consequences for people’s actions. Cassandra may not be as bad as many wayward wolves, but she did try to separate fated mates.” I told him, “I don’t think we have the same definition of bad… Cassandra is the worst. I’m assuming you mean she tried to separate Haley and Eric.”
Arion smiled, “Cassandra did not like my sister. There was one woman named Tara there with her evil mother as well. They have to admit their misdeeds to leave. Cassandra being Cassandra is hanging on. She’ll never leave if we are being truthful. The woman cannot admit she’s wrong.”
I frowned asking, “Can I go talk to her?” Arion smiled before saying, “That’s probably a question for your wolf.” He was right. Arion grinned saying, “I hope you can, and if you do, I’ll try to be there.” I laughed, “I’m sure.”
Aiden offered, “I will keep digging into this. You are right, Melanie. Arion will keep Gerdishek from contacting anyone. We need the advantage.” I looked at him pointing out, “You’ve had the advantage on that family since Fabian’s death, and they never realized it. You do realize… the O’Toole’s are who got to Masium, which means… they did cause Arion’s death.”
Aiden’s jaw clenched as he replied, “Yes, I know. They miscalculated again.” Arion agreed, “They did. They thought I would be on their side. If I’d succeeded in taking Haley, I more than likely would’ve bonded with my sister. Or I’d have gone mad, I was fractured. Which is why I refused her healing.”
I felt bad for him before he was manipulated. He was like Buck in my mind. They took Arion’s destiny from him, but noteven they could fight the hands of fate. Arion was a god now. It wasn’t official yet, but he was.
Arion cleared his throat, “You’ll have to wake up now, my nephew will be worried.” I smirked, “I do usually wake up before him… but he says he’d like to wake up first… or it’s implied… he’s said together… but he would obviously prefer to wake up first.”
Arion laughed, “I know. You are good for him. Work with my nephew, even though you are used to being alone. I am around often so I have heard my sister’s wolf discuss his deep concerns for you. You are a Beta blood, Melanie McAlister Conners. You were always meant to work with Alexander, not alone.”
I said, “I mean… technically speaking… I have an army. I’m not often alone… I just act alone when people are wrong… which clearly… I should’ve done more of.” Aiden said, “You have people, but you are at the top of the command. You shoulder that burden.”
“I know because I am, but Lucinda is at my side along with Haley. You have all of us as well. I have never stopped my sister’s silents wars. I haven’t declared them, but I don’t tell her not to kill those she thinks must go. I won’t say that to you either.”
Arion muttered, “You could just kill them all, Aiden. If Haley waffles, just kill them. When I pull you to the Beyond and say JUST KILL THEM! You could do so. I’m just saying.” I said, “I’ll definitely kill them… so you could just come to me. Other people are wrong… the facts back me up and you’re an Enforcer… so, you’re right.”
Arion chuckled, “If you go with my nephew, I’ll do so.” I reasoned, “I could do that. Also… ummm Thank you, Aiden… it means a lot to me that you’d be worried and say all that.” Because he couldn't lie…. so, he meant it.
Aiden said, “If you have any need at all you can come talk to me, Melanie Conners. Or you can call me, since I’m certain youhave my number. Should you not, Alexander obviously does.” I admitted, “So… I might have it.”
Arion snorted, “That’s the least shocking thing I’ve learned in a long time.” I smiled, “It’s kind of my thing… so.” Arion laughed, “I know that and I’m dead, so my brother absolutely knows.” Aiden nodded and Arion tapped my head.
