Around seven that night, Marten got a call about a late weapons shipment. He wanted Pyotr and me to handle it; he had to meet with Jaroslav and Lev. I called Wexler and asked him to order Sienna’s favorite pizza, telling him to let her know I’d been called away and would be home late.

At the warehouse, the allies met us, and the handoff went smoothly. Then we went to the warehouse office to file the paperwork. When the paperwork was done, Pyotr leaned back, smirking.

“You know,” he said, “if you wanted us to actually believe you and Sienna had married for love, you could’ve at least bought her a ring.”

I slammed my hand on the table. “I don’t need to buy her shit to prove a point.”

“Oh, really?” Pyotr’s eyes grew cold. “So, you're so in love with her, and something as simple as a damn ring, something every woman would want to show off, you couldn't get her?”

I rose from my seat. “You're free to think whatever the hell you want.”

I strode to the door. But, just as I reached it, what Pyotr said next froze me in my tracks. “I know about Jasper.”

My head snapped in his direction.

Fuck! How did he find out?

My jaw clenched. My fists tightened at my sides.

As though he knew what I was thinking, he spoke again. “I heard when you told Marten there was a problem with the books. Knowing the guilt you carried after Mom and Dad died, things made sense, why you've never dated anyone. And then how you reacted after Ninel was kidnapped? There was no way in hell you’d marry out of the blue. A man like you fears commitment…because you wouldn't be able to stand the thought of her walking away. And you sure as hell wouldn’t forgive yourself if something happened to her.”

I closed my eyes and exhaled.

“I did my research on Sienna. That’s how I connected the dots to Jasper.”

I opened my eyes. “I’m dealing with it. Don’t you dare say a word to the others.”

“I’m not ratting you out, Avit,” he said. “But do you think when it comes down to it, she’d choose you over her father? After you…uprooted her life?”

“Are you doubting me, Pyotr?” I growled, stepping towards the desk he sat behind. “Not only that, who the fuck are you to question what I'm doing? You're my younger brother. Don't fucking forget that.”

“Avit, I’m worried! Fuck! After everything, I don’t wantyouhurt. Not after the shit you're still working through. And Sienna…she could betray you like Jasper did.”

“Don’t you think I’ve thought about it? Lev and the others have been stretched thin over the past three years! They need a damn break! Fuck, they earned it! And now Vera’s sick. I can’t drag them into this. This was my fault! I need to fix it! I don't need anyone's help!”

I stalked out of the office, slamming the door behind me as I made my way to my car. A feeling of dread began to settle in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't help but feel as though shit was about to get a lot worse before it got better.

Fuck!

Chapter 14 - Sienna

“Avit…” I moaned.

He kissed his way up my body, his fingers trailing between my wet pussy lips, sending my nervous system into a frenzy.

“Yes, angel?” he whispered near my ear.

His voice was low, sexy, sinful enough to make my toes curl. I moaned again.

“Tell me you want me,” he said, pulling back to look at me.

That look in his eyes…God. I knew that if I told him I’d changed my mind, he would’ve stopped instantly, gotten dressed, and walked away without hesitation.

But I wanted Avit. So badly.

“I want you,” I whispered.

“Mrs. Safin?” My name echoed faintly, followed by soft knocking.
