Sure enough, the hissing of a few dozen of them sounded, and flashes of gray retreated back into the cave where the light couldn't touch.
Sucking in a lungful of musky cave air, I dropped my ass to the rocky cavern floor.
"How are you feeling?" I asked Aimon, who paced the width of the cave.
"Jittery," he answered with an odd, vacant look in his eyes.
"I'm just happy we're bonded with Fawn now." Silas tossed the still-unconscious bone mage he'd captured earlier when we were in the palace on the ground.
Truthfully, I had forgotten he had brought him with us.
"Me too," each of them agreed.
"Your reviving didn't take too long." I watched Aimon as he paced, and the twins plopped down on each side of me. "Good thing your body was still intact."
"Intact?" Silas furrowed his brows and collapsed next to the bone mage.
"What does that mean?" Bastian sat next to Silas with a frown on his lips.
"Her first death, she was eaten halfway by a lochie in the Horrid Lake," Jasper told them, and I huffed out a bitter chuckle.
"You read that in my journal, hmm?"
"Almost read them all." He shot me a smug grin.
I shook my head in amusement, but my chest ached with worry for Aimon.
Would what he experienced be the same as what I had? Was that why he seemed so off?
I knew I had felt off for at least a few days after my first revival. The reality of being immortal was a harder pill to swallow than just knowing it.
"Aimon, you need to let out any of the excess energy." I tilted my head, shifting to my spirit vision to sense his power--and shock hit me as I noticed how much power he had still filling his spirit. "Now."
Aimon shut his eyes, and all of a sudden, glow wisps floated around us. The small glows adding to Cas's light in the dark cave.
Glow wisps never entered caves, and it was a magical sight to see.
But that wasn't all. Flowering vines covered the walls, and soft moss filled the cave floor below us.
Aimon's magic turned a terrifying cave into a pretty paradise, and my chest swelled with appreciation for it.
He rubbed his chest over his heart and sank to the floor, laying flat against the moss as he calmed his breathing. "Thanks, bug. I feel a lot better now."
"Of course. The power after revival is immense, but if we don't shed it, we go mad. Please don't forget that."
"I won't." He yawned as his eyes fluttered shut. The power on his spirit had made his vessel tired.
"Get some rest, everyone," I said. "We need to get back home as soon as possible."
Bastian lifted his sleeve, and a blue rune that had been invisible before glowed as six rejuvenation potions appeared out of it. One potion each floated toward us.
"That's really cool." I grabbed the vial in front of me before popping the lid off and downing the contents.
"Silas's runes are super convenient." Bastian shrugged.
"Clearly." I mused, glancing between his legs, and the potion mage turned red. "Especially when he's drunk."
Silas let out a long groan. "You told her about that?"
