His horns rose out of his skull with an audible crack. “But Wren—”

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but with you. Don’t get me wrong, it’s violating.” My voice cracked as I tried not to think about what it meant to be watched while I was being intimate with him. We were watched by an outsider. It wasn’t like Damien watching me all the time. This person was unknown, and that scared the shit out of me. But I didn’t want Rhett to know it rattled me. I wanted him to know I could handle it. “I just needed to process it, but you’ve been dealing with this violation for too long, and I willneverlet you go through something like this alone again. I won’t let anyone scare me away from my mate.”

“Thank you.” His voice came out childlike, and my heart squeezed.

“She’s right.” Damien’s voice broke the silence. He stepped out of the shadows from the bookshelf and into the room and ran his tongue over his lip rings.

“You’re always lurking.” Rhett glanced at him with a sigh.

“You may be a pain in the ass, but you are my brother-mate.” He ran a tattooed hand over his face with a chuckle.

“I appreciate it. I’m not usually this vulnerable with anyone.”

“Well, that’s the fucking problem, isn’t it?” Damien asked and grabbed my hand to pull me away from Rhett and into his arms. He gripped my chin and bent down to press his lips to mine. He leaned back just enough for our lips to part. “If you couldn’t catch on, incubus, which is hilarious because this is supposed to be your expertise, our mate was seekingintimacyfrom you. It went completely over your head.” His eyes twinkled as he spoke to Rhett, not breaking eye contact with me.

“You were?” Rhett asked, and he sounded surprised.

I nodded, not breaking Damien’s stare. “Why is that surprising?”

“You heard my little bird. Do you want me to show you how it’s done? Or do you want to join in?” My whole body heated as I turned my head to see Rhett, who had a smirk playing on his lips.

“It’s funny that you think I would just sit back and watch. I’m not as into voyeurism as you are.” He prowled forward.

Damien purred. “I know when to be both. If you could see the look of bliss on her face when she’s being pleasured, you’d like it more.”

A realization cut me out of the fog of lust that was clouding my mind. “Damien, you watched Rhett and me together this past weekend, right?”

His lips pulled into another smirk as he bit down on his lip ring. “Are you interested in what I thought of it?”

“Yes, actually, but that’s not my point. Rhett got another letter that said they watched us.” Shame flooded through me at the thought of being watched by someone other than my mates, but I pushed it aside because it wasn’t my fault. “You were watching us too. Did you sense anyone in the room?”

His face blanked for a moment. “Fuck, little bird. You’re right.” He shook his head, flicking his gaze over to Rhett. “I didn’t sense anyone. I know for a fact it’s not a shadow demon. The only way someone could do this…” Damien paused, dropping his hand from my face.

Rhett struck the desk with his fist. “A fucking invisibility charm.”

“They could be in here right now, and we wouldn’t even know,” Damien growled.

I immediately stuck my hands out in front of me and started walking around the room, feeling the air and everywhere around. “The invisibility charm,” I murmured, continuing to move around to feel vacant space. “Does it keep them solid?”

“Yes. They’ll remain corporal.”

“And can we hear them if they were to walk?”

Rhett nodded, and both of them were following my movements with intrigue.

“Then help me feel around and listen for anything weird.”

“So smart, little bird. Just give me a second.” Damien winked at me, and his shadows spread over the room, swallowing it into darkness before pulling back. “Nobody’s here.”

We collectively let out a breath of relief.

“Thank goodness.” I bent over to throw my hair over my head and gather it up before flipping back over and putting my hair in a messy top knot.

Damien rushed forward with his shadows slithering over him as he caged me against the wall. My back hit with a small thud that sent a ripple of pain down my spine. “Now that we know we’re alone, little bird, why don’t we take advantage of that?”

Rhett rolled his eyes from behind Damien’s shoulder, but I could see the hesitation on his face.

“Do you promise we’re alone?” I asked.
