A shiver ran down my spine. “Yeah. What worries me the most is that Damien gouged his eyes out and chopped off his arm, but he didn’t feel any pain. I mean, shadow demons are great at causing pain, but they feed off it too. And if Damien couldn’t feed off it, that means that he didn’t feel itat all. That spell must have backfired, but to be honest, I’m just happy that her bond with Grayson is no longer there.”
“Yeah, I’d take evil Grayson over a rejected bond any day.” Lachlan raked a hand through his hair. “Please don’t let me regret saying that.”
I laughed before my vision blackened, and my head felt like it was being split down the middle. Dropping onto the ground, I clutched my head as Nightshade ran over and started tapping on my knee. Lachlan was saying something, and so was Nightshade, but I couldn’t focus.
Then, like a vortex, I was sucked into a vision.
A full moon bathed the academy in a soft white light. The wards over the academy turned black before shattering. The screams of students and staff alike flooded through the air as transformed werewolves and human specimens rushed into campus. Some students fought with their special powers, while others ran and tried to hide or leave. They were cut down. It was a full on massacre.
My vision blurred, and I was launched out of the vision violently. Vomit burned my throat as I retched onto the ground. “The next full moon.” I sucked in a breath, trying my best to ignore the stench of my vomit. “The humans are attacking the next full moon with werewolves.”
“What? Why the academy?”
“It is the place where supernaturals are trained to fight humans,” I croaked.
Lachlan growled. “Are you sure?”
I looked up at him. “I’m positive.”
“The next full moon is tomorrow night.”
“Oh no.” My head throbbed. My magic was zapped from the vision. “We need to get to Rowan and Blair,” I croaked, and Lachlan helped me to my feet as Nightshade sat on his shoulder, giving me space.
Nightshade cast an anti-gravity spell on my body, and Lachlan helped guide me toward Arcane Hall. I was grateful for my familiar’s magic.
We didn’t say anything else as we entered the building and made our way up to the headmaster’s office. The bond with Wren fluttered as we grew closer, and I breathed a sigh of relief to know she was there.
Nightshade dropped his spell as we opened the door, and my body felt heavy again.
Blair sat on the opposite side of Rowan and Wren with her hand placed on her head and her eyes trained on me. “I just had the same vision.”
I pinched my brows in a wince, and Wren slid off Rowan’s lap and came to me, cupping my head in her hands. “Another vision. The same one as Blair?”
“Of the humans attacking tomorrow night,” Blair clarified, and I nodded.
Rowan clutched the sphere with two hands. “There’s something else.”
Wren let go of me and dug around in her bag. She pulled out a tincture and moved me over to the side where Rowan had put a sofa for when she came to watch him work. She pushed me down and sucked a few drops of whatever it was in the dropper.
“What else is there?” Lachlan asked.
Wren frowned. “Open up,” she whispered, and I parted my lips. She dropped two bitter droplets on my tongue, and I swallowed it. “It’s a magical pain reliever. It should ease your headache. I gave Blair some already.”
“Thank you, sweetheart,” I rasped, kissing her cheek.
“We may know of some potential facilities in the human territory that are housing werewolves. Although, housing may not be the correct word.” Rowan winced, and I flicked my eyes to Lachlan.
“You have locations?” His voice broke, and I could see the hope in his eyes. “They have my sister.”
Rowan clenched his jaw and rubbed a hand down his face. “It’d be nice if we could rescue all of them, but obviously, if your sister’s one of them, we’ll make sure that we do our best to get her as soon as possible.”
Lachlan’s shoulders slumped as he nodded. I could see a million things flash through his eyes. “Thank you.”
“You’re our mate’s mate, which makes us family. Which means your sister is our family, too.”
Wren smiled at Lachlan, and they shared a moment of silence.
“We need to get Tabitha and everyone else and let them know about the visions and that the wards around the academy may be getting tampered with and are weaker than they should be. We need to do our best to get the students either out of here or in a safe spot.” Rowan paused, glancing at everyone in the room. “To be honest with you, it might be a good opportunity to let them fight. This academy trains supernaturals for war with humans. Obviously, we will let them decide if they want to fight or not. If they would like to go home, then that is also fine. But I’ll get a troop from the Supernatural Council stationed here tomorrow.”
