Both of them had small smiles on their lips. And with his mother, I counted that as a win.

Embarrassment swept over me, and I hid my face against Lachlan’s bare chest, realizing that he only had pants on, just like most of the males in his pack.

A woman with short blonde hair approached us and smiled at me before reaching her hand out. I took it, sensing her power and kindness. “I heard that you needed to speak with the alpha about the alliance between the Supernatural Council and the dragons.” Her voice was soft.

We nodded.

“My father is the alpha, but he’s training me to take over, so he told me to choose our alliance for the war,” she explained with a smile.

I glanced at Lachlan, and he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest. But he didn’t speak, instead, allowing me to. “We wanted to tell your village that the dragons of Blezen don’t have good intentions, and we wanted to see if you would join the Supernatural Council so we can fight the humans and work toward equality.”

Her lips pursed, and she tilted her head. “The dragons have given us a dragon scale in good faith. How do they have ill-intent?”

Kian stepped beside us with Shade on his shoulder. “The dragons are cruel. Our mate is also mated to a firedrake. Rowan, the headmaster of Fate Hollow Academy.”

“Rowan Barrington?” she gasped, her eyes widening. “There have been many stories of him, and what he’s done in the name of all supernaturals.”

“The dragons in Blezen turn their mates into breeders, and the dragons or drakes who try to go against that are killed,” Lachlan explained with a growl.

Her eyes widened, and she turned her attention to me. “And you’re mated to Rowan, who is a firedrake?”

“That’s correct.”

She flicked her gaze toward Lachlan and Kian. “And so are they?”

“Yes,” they both said.

Frowning, she pinched her brows together. “That’s an extremely serious accusation.”

“Rowan can confirm it. He lived in Blezen for thirty years. There are more atrocities that they’ve done that I don’t feel comfortable speaking about, but I know my mate would be happy to go into detail if it would stop you from aligning yourself with them.”

“Well… I don’t want to align our pack with anyone who is cruel-natured like that. And my father and I have respected Rowan for decades.” She sighed, running a hand through her hair and glancing back at an older man, who nodded at her. She turned back to us with a firm expression. “Please, tell the Supernatural Council they have the support of the Werewolf Village.”

“Thank you.” Lachlan bowed his head in respect, and Kian and I followed suit.

Dread hit my stomach like a brick. The bonds I shared with Rowan, Damien, and Thorn exploded with negativity, and my knees buckled.

“Wren, what’s wrong?” Kian asked as Lachlan stopped me from dropping to the ground.

“I’m sorry,” I gasped, grabbing my chest.

“I feel it too,” Kian whispered.

‘Something’s happening,’Shade squeaked.

“We need to get back to Fate Hollow as soon as possible.”

THIRTY-SIX

Wren

Kian,Shade,Lachlan, andI toppled head first into a few inches of snow on the ground after Kian teleported us to Fate Hollow.

“I’m sorry!” Kian scrambled up out of the snow and helped me to my feet.

“You don’t have to apologize. I’m just thankful you got us so close to the academy.” I squeezed his hand.

Trees and bitter cold surrounded us in the Bestial Forest, and I frowned as I noticed we were on the other side of the wards. A chill ran down my spine at the thought of being unprotected by the academy wards.
