A jolt of panic shot down my spine, but it was incinerated by the lust clogging my brain and body. “What’s it do? And how long can others smell you... and Damien... on me?”

A throaty chuckle danced over my skin as he started tracing patterns on my neck. “Damien’s scent should fade away by tomorrow unless you let him eat you out again. Mine will be running through your veins for at least a week.”

“What’s it do?” I asked again.

“It loosens you up.”

“Like a nervous system depressant?”

“With feelings of euphoria and sometimes an increased desire for sex,” he admitted with his husky voice that could probably tell me something terrible and I’d agree to whatever it was.

“Like Rhett’s pheromones?”

“Not as potent as that. If it were paired with Rhett’s pheromones, let’s just say your vocabulary would be a lot more brazen. You’d be begging someone to slide between your legs.”

My face burned, and my body was throbbing in heat and in need. “Your power?” I prompted, but part of me wanted to dismiss the power altogether and just let his fangs sink into my neck to see what all the fuss was about with his venom.

He leaned up a bit more until I could make out all his facial features, and I was in awe of how bad this man was for my heart. His jawline was sharp, and the stubble made him look even more attractive than he already was. “Blood affinity.”

My brows knitted together as I focused on what he’d said. “Blood affinity? Does that mean you can—”

“Control blood just as others with affinity can wield the elements? Yes.”

“Can you make blood out of nothing?”

“Can other element affinity users do that?”

I paused, trying to remember what I’d read. “Only fae.”

“Correct.”

“So does that mean you could control the blood pumping through someone’s veins?”

“That’s right.”

“Wow,” I breathed.

Alister was more dangerous than I realized. Not only was he a vampire, but he could control blood—which was fitting. I didn’t know anyone wielded such a deadly power at the academy. No wonder he was hesitant to tell me about it.

“I’m sure you realize this, but don’t tell anyone about my power,” he murmured. “Rowan has told me to never mention it, but I couldn’t resist telling you.”

“I would never tell anyone. It could put you in danger.”

“You care about my safety?”

“Of course I do.”

His gaze sharpened, and he dipped his head down and brushed his soft lips over the sensitive flesh of my collarbone.

“Let’s see how sweet you are.” A trail of longing followed his mouth before his fangs grazed the side of my neck with clear intent.

Two small pricks made me tense, and the length of his fangs entered. Pain seared through the bite as he sucked once, then an immense sense of euphoria washed over me.

My hands moved up and slid through his hair, and my legs parted as he ground his hard length against my core. I gasped out as the need I’d felt last night rushed back to my core, and Alister groaned.

“Alister,” I moaned, moving my head to the side to give him more access.

His fingers dug into my hip as he retracted his fangs and pulled back. His lips were smeared with my blood, and the magical tingle of healing buzzed through my neck.
