Both brows flicked up in surprise. I hadn’t heard of that power before, but if he was that strong, it made me wonder how he was taken and beaten nearly to death without any memory.

“Yeah, I know,” he said, folding his arms over his chest with a scowl. “Nobody’s ever gotten the upper hand on me. Whoever it was didn’t have a scent, and they were quick.”

“No scent?” The only being I knew without a scent was the seer. But other witches or warlocks also held the ability to mask scents. “And you haven’t had issues with hazing?”

He chuckled darkly. “Do you really think any of the other students would be stupid enough to mess with me?”

“Ah, no.” I scratched the back of my head. “I don’t, but I had to ask.”

“Can you ask anything that could help us figure out who did this to me?” His tone was bitter, but I could sense the despair in his voice.

I slipped out a few of my pheromones, enough to relax him but not to make him want to jump me.

He sighed, uncrossing his arms and leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees. “If I remember anything, I’ll let you know. All I do know is that the Bestial Forest has to be where they took me, and whoever they were, they must’ve thought I was dead before they left. I’m constantly looking over my shoulder now.”

My lips sank into a sad frown. I hated that any of the students on campus felt unsafe. Worse than that, I hated that the campuswasunsafe at the moment. We didn’t know what the threat was, and moreover, we didn’t know what they wanted or what their purpose was. If it was just to kill students, what was the motivation behind it?

Gerry’s shoulders shook and before long, he started sobbing.

The session didn’t end until late that night, and while he felt better about his day-to-day life, we didn’t uncover anything new.

ProfessorFallonstoodinthe front of the class in a tight pencil skirt and a white button up that I was pretty sure she’d forgotten to button all the way since her boobs were spilling out. My chest was barely existent in comparison. I didn’t even know why I was comparing. I’d never cared about surface-level stuff before.

Besides, I’d assumed the staff were required to wear uniforms when teaching for the same reason we had to wear uniforms. Alister had worn one similar to ours but red. However, her attire wasn’t what was irritating me.

“Excuse me.” I raised my hand, interrupting her spiel about Arnica and its usage.

Her full red lips flattened into a line as she cut her cold gaze toward me. “What is it?”

“Arnica is more of the universal first-aid herb, and it isn’t effective in use as an antihistamine, even with magic-infusion.” I locked my fingers together on top of my textbook as I met her glare. “The herb is effective as an anti-hematoma, counter-irritant, immune-stimulant, but mostly anti-inflammatory. But it’s not a good idea to place this herb on a rash since it’s a highly warming and stimulating herb. It may actually make the rash worse.”

Her lips parted before she tilted her head back with escalating mirth.

My brows drew together, and I glanced toward Thorn, who shrugged in response.

“Oh, bless your heart. They really don’t teach you anything in Briesia, do they?” she asked, dramatically wiping a finger under her eye as if she were wiping away a tear.

“No, they don’t,” I replied with a frown. “However, I was taught by the village herbalist with handwritten journals, a few odd texts, and practice. To add to that, I am also a certified herbalist, and I can promise you that arnica does not treat allergic reactions or allergies. Butterbur can help ease allergies, but not arnica. Use the tablet’s information server, if you don’t believe me.”

She scowled, pivoting on her heels and snatching up her tablet on her desk before she began poking at the screen. Her brown eyes scanned the screen before she pursed her lips and set it back down. “You’re correct about arnica, however, please refrain from interrupting my lectures in the future.”

“I wouldn’t interrupt if the information was correct,” I grumbled, and she flashed her fangs in my direction.

I braved her gaze, and my spine clicked straight as a rod.

Lachlan let out a low growl as he placed his hand over mine on the desk and glared at her.

“Do we have a problem here?” She crossed her arms over her chest, pushing up her boobs that actually almost fell out of her top—and I wasn’t being dramatic.

“Only if you do.” Thorn narrowed his eyes at her as well, sending a flush of icy wind through my hair as my body temperature started to rise.

She huffed, walking over to remove arnica from the list of plants that could be used as an antihistamine.

I had to admit, this was one of my favorite classes, both for the reason of it being Herbology and that Grayson didn’t share it with me, but Professor Fallon was wrong thirty percent of the time and she was downright rude every time she spoke to me.
