“Um,” the blonde one interrupted with a shaky voice. “We were told we could play with you.”
“Oh, of course you can.” She bent forward and cooed at him for a few seconds before turning back to me. “I thought I was finally going to meet your mate.”
“She’s not my mate,” I muttered bitterly, crossing my arms.
“Yet,” she replied in a firm tone that told me not to argue as she swept her blue bangs away from her face. “She’s a fox, Thorn. You have an obvious bond already. The Fates wouldn’t not bond you.”
“I hope you’re right.” I turned toward the two imps with a scowl. “Be respectful. Oh, and I also need you both to write a letter addressed to the headmaster explaining that you’re leaving the academy. Say you’re leaving to go to the fae realm. Give the letter to Frayla. She’ll make sure to send it."
They nodded frantically, and I snorted.
She snapped her fingers at the imps and they got to their feet and bowed their heads.
Their minds were filled with submissive desires, and Frayla had zero intentions of them being intimate with anyone but each other, which made me chuckle as I waved at her before heading back to the dorms.
When I made it back to the suite, everyone was still asleep, but eight AM classes were supposed to start in less than ten minutes.
I used my ice magic to blast over Lachlan, who had left his door open again, and he jolted up with a shiver. “Dude, what the fuck?”
“If you don’t wake up, we’re going to be late.” I rolled my eyes, pulling out my tablet from my bag.
He fell back against the mattress with a groan. “Didn’t you check your tablet this morning?”
I clicked it on to read thealertnotification on the home screen.
8 AM and 9 AM classes cancelled. Regular schedule to proceed at 10 AM.
“What? Why?” My brows came together, but Lachlan was already snoring away.
Huffing out a small chuckle, I walked out and shut his door before going to my room. I sat the tablet down on my desk and stripped to my boxers before sliding back under my covers.
I didn’t even need to get up this morning, but if I hadn’t, two pervert imps would still be on campus.
My eyes fluttered shut and dreams of Wren’s beautiful smile consumed me.
FIFTEEN
Wren
Wasremovingashifter’spinky bone even slightly in the realm of romance? Not really. But when Damien gave said bone to me as a present, I couldn’t help my heart fluttering.
My fingertips absentmindedly brushed against my lips as I stared at the stone wall in the front of the classroom.
I didn’t know what had come over me when I kissed him, but all I knew was that his lips were addictive. The effects were like I’d drunk a psychedelic potion, which I had never actually consumed before—but I’d heard that the feeling was indescribable.
And kissing Damien was indescribable.
“Welcome to Supernatural Studies. I already see a lot of familiar faces,” Alister purred, and I blinked a few times before coming back to the present to find his gaze on me.
I sat between Damien and Kian in a different classroom than Crystology was taught, but it was a welcomed surprise to see that Alister was teaching this class when I walked in.
The downside was that Grayson was here too, and he hadn’t looked in my direction once the entire time. With Damien and Kian beside me, my chest only had a dull ache with him around. It was a relief from what it had been.
“It’s come to my attention that there have been several rumors on campus this morning, and I’m allowed to confirm that one student, a female siren, has been found dead in the Bestial Forest.”
Whispers broke out in the class, and fear licked up my spine.
Sirens were ranked decent in the hierarchy. They were strong. What had killed her? Were they investigating it? Who was hurting students?
