Alister huffed a laugh that he tried to disguise as a cough, and I stared at him.

“Also, I know I’ve said it a few times, sweet ruby, but your fox form is just the cutest fucking thing.”

I pouted, and my pacing stopped as I crossed my arms and glared at Alister. “I’m not just cute. I’m dangerous.”

Thorn chuckled but nodded. “Sure are.”

“Of course you are,” Alister agreed with a cheeky smile.

I opened my mouth to chew them out about how sharp my teeth were when the door opened and Lachlan and Kian came in and shut the door fast.

Kian’s face was pale white, and Lachlan’s face was twisted in disgust.

“Damien can get really creative,” Kian muttered.

“Don’tevermention what we just saw again,” Lachlan said before shaking his head.

“What was your vision?” Alister asked.

“Someone stole the body of the human we had in the library. I called Norman, and he confirmed it.”

Goosebumps pebbled my arms. “No one can bring him back, right? Because Kian, that man must’ve already been brought back. I don’t think he had a soul left.”

“No necromancer can bring a body that was flattened like that back to life,” Kian assured before pausing. “Unless the brain wasn’t completely damaged.”

Alister cursed. “It wasn’t completely damaged. That’s what Norman was studying.”

The room filled with silent tension, and my fox ears and tail sprouted out again. The guys each hid their smirks, but Lachlan’s grim face burst into a smile.

He strolled over to touch my ears. “You are so fucking cute.”

“I’m dang—”

“Dangerous,” Alister supplied for me. “We know.”

The guys started chuckling. Even Kian cracked a smile as I pouted.

Iwasdangerous.

“Don’t worry, fledgling,” Rowan said as he walked into the room with Damien in tow. “You’re very dangerous.”

Rolling my eyes, I met him halfway and pulled him into a hug. “I feel like you’re being sarcastic, but I love you anyway.”

His big arms wound around me tightly, and he inhaled. “I love you.”

My ears and tail went back to normal as I pulled back and glanced at Damien, who was splattered with blood. “You need a shower.”

“I do,” he agreed. “Butonlyif you come help me.”

Rowan nodded. “Go on. We’ll sort everything out here. Get that psycho clean.”

Damien chuckled with that glint in his eye. “Aw, you think I’m psycho?”

“You made him play hacky sack with his eyeball.”

“Yeah, but he sucked. Couldn’t even hit it once.”

“Okay!” I clasped my hands together. “Let’s get the blood off you.”
