“We will, sweet ruby,” Alister assured me.
Rhett forced a smile, and then the three of them left the room.
“What could we do in the meantime?” Damien asked in a teasing tone. “Kian, would you like to have some fun with my little bird?”
I swatted Damien’s chest. “Stop teasing.”
“I wasn’t teasing.” His shadows shot forward and wrapped around my wrists and ankles, forcing me back against the mattress. The top had moved to uncover both of my breasts and revealed the fact that I had no panties on.
Kian sucked in a sharp breath before turning around. “I’m sorry!” he yelped.
“Ah, Damien!” One tendril of his shadows slid between my legs and pushed inside me, sparking the desire I had for him.
“Damien, really?” Kian muttered, and Damien chuckled, before letting me go and bringing his shadows back to him.
“Little bird, would you like to continue with our fun or would you like to do something else?” Damien’s smirk was wicked, and he used his telekinesis to flip Kian around to face me, but his eyes were screwed shut.
I sat up and closed my top and my legs before turning to Damien. “If Kian isn’t ready for intimacy—”
“Oh, don’t worry about me,” Kian interrupted. “I would never deny time with you, no matter what the time consisted of.”
“You heard him,” Damien purred, brushing my hair out of my face.
“Damien,” I protested. “Trust me, I want you... both of you…” Kian choked, launching himself into a coughing fit as I continued, “But I—”
“You need to go check on Thorn?” he guessed with an exaggerated sigh. “I figured he worried you.”
“I’m sorry, but yes.” I started buttoning my shirt, but Damien knocked my hands out of the way and buttoned it for me while Kian caught his breath.
“Don’t be sorry, little bird. But tell me, do you like it when I bind you so you can’t move?”
“I do.” Heat flushed through my body, and I bit my lip.
“Thought so.” He leaned forward and kissed me on the lips, soft and slow, before pulling away. “We’ll play later. Let’s go find the brooding fae.”
“Um, sorry about that. It’s just that you're, um, extremely pretty, Wren.” Kian started rambling as I got out of bed and tugged on a pair of my pants Rowan had put into his dresser. “Like, more than pretty... gorgeous. Stunning. Everything. And I also really care about you and I like you, and I—”
“It’s okay, Kian. I get it.” I smiled, and he returned it with a relieved one. “You know I like you too. You’re my potential mate for a reason.”
“Just like the fae with the attitude problem,” Damien sang. “Let’s go find him.”
We found Thorn and Lachlan in the Bestial Forest at dusk. The wind was cold, and I couldn’t help but bask in it for a few moments as Damien shadow traveled us next to them.
“I know it’s selfish, but I just can’t help it.” Thorn groaned, shooting ice spikes from his palms at the creek, freezing the running water on contact before the pressure cracked the ice, and he did it again.
Lachlan’s head snapped toward us, and he offered a hesitant smile. “I figured you’d find us soon enough. Did you heal up yet?”
I nodded. “Thanks to Kian.”
Kian blushed. “It was nothing.”
“The visions are pretty fucking useful, necromancer. Don’t sell yourself short.” Damien scoffed.
“I’m sorry,” Thorn said, continuing to shoot ice into the river.
I walked over to him and touched his shoulder. “Thorn.”
He turned toward me and dropped his hand with a sigh. “I’ve done so much to keep you safe, but it wasn’t enough.”
