“Grayson is no longer permitted in my class,” Alister said before turning toward the class as a whole. “None of this should have been witnessed. Everyone is dismissed.”

Everyone who was still in the room rushed out without much more encouragement, except for Mirella who stayed put in her seat as she stared at Grayson.

Grayson crossed his arms as Alister held out a pinky bone. “Is Alice still alive?”

He shrugged one shoulder. “Maybe.”

My heart squeezed in my chest, and I buried my face into Rowan’s chest.

“Where is the shifter and what did you do?” Rowan asked, and Grayson’s gaze bore into my back.

“She’s back in our village. Unfortunately, my parents say we still need her alive for now because she's the only one with herbology knowledge.” He sighed. “I cut off her pinky bone, though I wasn’t as gentle as you were.” He narrowed his eyes at Damien who growled.

“Why?” I asked, turning in Rowan’s arms to face him. “Why would you do that to her when she did nothing to you?”

His smile sent a jolt of fear down my spine. “Because it hurts you.”

“Let me kill him,” Damien growled.

Alister raised his arm to stop him from snapping. “If we kill Grayson and then go to the village, we can just take Alice.”

Grayson chuckled again. “Do you honestly think I’m that stupid? We found a witch to link my life with Alice’s. That way whatever happens to me, happens to her. But they did a fancy trick to make it so whatever happens to her, doesn’t happen to me.”

“Fuck.” Damien’s horns popped out.

“How do we know that’s true?” Alister asked, and he shrugged.

“You don’t, but you can always find out.”

“Expelled,” Rowan bit out. “Get out of the academy and don’t return.”

Grayson’s brows rose, and he let his gaze run over my body. “Fine, but tell me this first.”

I sucked in a breath as the tension in the room grew thicker.

“How tight is her cunt? With all, how many of you are there, ten? Surely it’s ruined by now.”

Damien’s shadows had him hanging in the air before I could exhale. Red scales covered Rowan’s arms as his body became scalding, and Alister moved me out of his arms and into his own as he bared his fangs at Grayson.

Mirella stood with a sickened expression as she shook her head. “That’s disgusting, Grayson.”

An emotionless, chaotic laugh is all she got in response as she walked out of the room. “Did I touch a nerve?”

“I’m taking her to Rhett’s office,” Alister said, and my pulse quickened. “Do whatever you have to do.”

“No! Don’t let Alice be a victim because he’s insane!” My concern and Rowan’s anger flooded our bond.

“Take care of our girl, vampire,” Damien said, and Alister scooped me up into his arms and used his vampire speed to rush out of the room.

“Let me down!” I hit my fists against his chest until he sat me down on Rhett’s desk. “Why did you make me leave?”

“Three reasons,” he hissed as his fingers dug into my hips while he glowered at me. “First, none of us want that filth to speak to you like that. Second, you shouldn’t have to be in his presence. Third, he deserves whatever he fucking gets and we will find a way to get Alice. They won’t kill him.”

“You didn’t feel the anger Rowan was sending through the bond!” My ears sprouted along with my tail, and I leaned over to let it out behind me.

“What happened?“ Rhett asked, standing up and moving Alister’s hands from my waist as I growled.

“Grayson showed up to my class. When Wren got there, he said a lot of shit. Threatening Wren and hurting her guardian back in the village.”
