“I’ll remember that for next time.” Damien squatted in front of Rowan and grabbed my hand. “I should’ve killed him for you.”
“Damien,” I murmured. “You’re something else entirely.”
“You like that, though.” He tongued his lip ring.
My cheeks heated as my pulse quickened. “You’re right.”
“Little bird, you should talk to Thorn.”
“About Nate?”
“Yes.”
I nibbled on my bottom lip. “But Thorn’s upset because of me, and speaking of, so is Lachlan.”
“They’re not upset because of you, sweet ruby,” Alister said. “They’re probably feeling exactly what I am and don’t want to admit it to you or themselves—they’re jealous.”
“Jealous?”
“Fucking right,” Damien agreed. “Jealous that you mated that big reptile before me.”
Rhett snorted, and Rowan growled.
“I’m a firedrake. Not a reptile.”
Alister shrugged, tapping the teardrop on his cheek. “Technically the same thing.”
A giggle broke through my lips as I sat up on Rowan.
The guys stilled and their gazes rested on me, making me stop laughing. My face burned, and I dropped my gaze to my hand still linked with Damien’s.
“You have a beautiful laugh,” Rhett said in a strained voice with murmurs of agreement from everyone else.
A heavy dose of pheromones filled the room, gliding over my skin and making me instantly wet as I sat on Rowan’s lap.
Damien growled, sniffing the air. “Fuck, little bird, you smell so good. How did your sweetness get sweeter?”
“It’s much sweeter than before,” Alister rasped, squeezing his fists at his sides.
“It’s because we mated,” Rowan explained, his grip on me tightening. I could feel the bulge of his erection growing under me, and I stifled a moan.
Every nerve inside my body was firing at a rapid rate, begging to be touched.
“She’s hot,” Rowan said with a growl.
“I can help.” Damien’s shadows started moving up my legs and around my body, caressing every intimate part in tandem as Rowan’s hands stayed on my hips.
“Mmm.” My head rolled back as my thighs clenched together.
“Rhett,” Alister hissed.
“Fuck, I’m sorry.”
The pheromones were sucked out of the room and our bodies like a vortex, and I gasped, popping my eyes open.
“What happened?” Rowan asked, staring at Rhett with his jaw tight.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled, running a hand through his hair. “For some reason whenever Wren is around, I tend to lose control of my pheromones.”
