“Or what?” Viktor’s eyes narrowed into slits, putting more pressure on my shoulders, slicing through my tendons.
Blinding pain erupted through me, spreading across my chest as if venom was seeping through my bloodstream. I cried out in agony, unable to hold any of it in.
Viktor yanked his claws out, blood splattering every which way as his tongue flicked to the side before plunging into the wound on my left shoulder, wiggling around as my body tried to heal.
A high-pitched scream belted from my mouth, shredding my vocal cords as I convulsed from the pain.
“No!” Aziel’s plea boomed across the clearing as blue flames engulfed the surrounding foliage around us, an intense heat closing in. “I can’t lose you this way again!”
Viktor’s tongue withdrew, and a cold sweat gathered on my forehead. Weakness set in, and my knees tried buckling under pressure. I gritted my teeth so hard I thought they’d break as I focused on not passing out.
“Are you trying to burn down the entire forest, demon?” His voice was thick with irritation.
Aziel thrashed around as the four men struggled to keep hold of him. Desperation and fear swirled in his eyes as he stared at us. “I’ll fucking burn you until there’s nothing left but ash!”
“Only two beings hold that power.” Viktor paused, dragging his eyes over me. “And this is not the Lilith that does.”
My brows scrunched together as I spat in his stupid face. “Stop talking nonsense.”
He shook his head, wiping the spit off with his arm. “I’m not keen on my food being so aggressive.”
“Fuck you.” I glared at him.
If I was going to die here, I wasn’t going out peacefully.
He reared back, opening his mouth full of razors that glimmered in the moonlight.
I turned my head toward Aziel’s desperate pleas as he fought to free himself, knocking two of the guys down before they tackled him again.
Agonizing pain rippled through my neck to my veins as Viktor’s teeth tore into my flesh, ripping into it like a fucking piranha. Tears sprung to my eyes as I squeezed them shut. I gurgled on the thick blood coming up my throat.
Was this what Corbin felt when he died?
“Lilith! Fucking remember! You’re the princess of the king who rules the south.”
Aziel was speaking gibberish again as Viktor fed on me. My veins throbbed as my sludgy blood was getting sucked out with sickening determination, leaving my artery in surges.
Fuck.
Stars danced behind my eyelids as a throbbing took over my head again.
Death came at a price, but what fucking price is this?
For the first time in my life, I’m not ready to die yet.
Bloodshed is evil’s ink.
Cold set in as numbness spread through my limbs. I didn’t feel the pain from Viktor’s teeth anymore, just pressure in my veins as blood was pulled from my body. I couldn’t move a single muscle as Aziel’s pleas and struggle sounded far away.
“Lilith!”
“Fucking hell!”
“We’re too bloody late!”
“Get them off me so we can fucking save her!”
The voices were muffled like they were underwater as I faded in and out of consciousness.
