A chill ran through me to my core.
Fuck. I shouldn’t have left. I should’ve waited like Thaddeus wanted.
Mom’s eyebrows drew together as she pulled out her cellphone. “I’ll call—”
“Get back!” A growl vibrated my chest, echoing around us.
Panic seized me. Whatever they were, they were here for me, and I’d led them directly to my fucking family.
Fuck. There was no time to sugarcoat the paranormal.
“Fucking shit,” I muttered, using my vampire speed to forcibly move each family member, Jax and Corbin included, toward the back wall.
“What the—what thefuckdid you just…” Hunter stammered as the rest were stunned silent.
I got into a fighting stance near the front door, glancing back at their totally stunned expressions.
The door busted off the hinges and clattered to the floor with a bang, revealing an abandoned withpurplefucking eyes next to a male vampire with white hair and a goatee that screamedI’m evil.Dark, sunken black eyes sought me out with intent.
Gasps sounded from behind me, and their hearts beat a million times per second. The vampire’s eyes swept over to them, and his fangs were bloody.
Since when did vampires and abandoneds team up?
“Messy eater, huh?” I arched a brow, ignoring the burn in my throat as I noticed the viscous blood gleaming off his white incisors.
Gross.
“Oh, new-blood, I’m just accepting my true nature. The Draven clan doesn’t drink from the vein, do they?” His voice was raspy and crackled like he’d been a smoker in his human life.
“We’re vampires, not monsters.”
“V-Vampires?” Dean rasped.
He let out a throaty laugh. “Referring to that clan as yours, hm? Our intel said you weren’t to go in front of the Order of the Void until tomorrow morning.”
My brows shot up for a millisecond, but I forced myself to remain neutral. “Intel?”
“I can’t tell you all our secrets.” He winked. “You’re vulnerable, yes? No obliteration power, no clan, no protection?”
I smirked. “I wouldn’t say that. I’ve picked up a few things as they trained me.”
“Care to share?”
I shifted my gaze toward the shadow monster with purple eyes just fucking chilling next to him. “I’ll share if you do. Why do you have an abandoned accompanying you?”
“You have no idea what’s going on.” He smirked. “We’ve been looking everywhere for you. They’ve been keeping you under heavy security. We were lucky you decided to sneak away the night before the full moon.”
I tensed, a chill shaking through me from the unhinged stare he gave me. “What’re you talking about?”
“Your three vampires. The Draven clan. Don’t worry. Viktor won’t mess with them if they stay out of the way. He only wants you. You’re the new-blood,” he said with a sadistic smile. “Come with me, or I’ll kill the humans.”
No wonder they hadn’t been taking me out on hunts.
Why didn’t they tell me?
Fuck.
I can’t think about that right now. I’m in deep shit. I have to do something.
