He turned to face me with a smirk. “You told me we could use more coffee creamer for your iced coffees. Now’s your chance. Go wild. I’ll buy whatever you need.”

I smirked, stepping toe-to-toe with him and wrapping my arms around his neck. “Thank you, Kai.”

“There’s something about you,” he whispered before I stepped back. “You’re dangerous, Lilith.”

“You have no idea.”

He reached up and brushed his thumb over my cheek, happiness filling me from his touch. I wasn’t sure if it was my emotions or what he was projecting onto me, but it didn’t matter. I craved his skin against mine.

“You’re tempting.” He pulled back and cleared his throat. “Go on. Go get your iced coffee stuff.”

A strange scent of foliage and wet dog hit my nostrils among the store’s fresh produce, and I stiffened. “Do you smell that?”

He turned his head, sniffing the air with a pause. “Werewolf.”

“No shit.” My eyes widened as I looked back and forth, trying to pinpoint the smell, but it was gone as fast as it came.

“It’s gone. Probably smelled us too.” He shrugged. “There are supernaturals all over, and now that you have heightened senses, you’ll notice them more. They’ll be hesitant to be around an illegal new-blood with the ancient cannibal vampire lurking around, which is more than likely why it left.”

Great. Even supernaturals were steering clear of me.

But I wouldn’t let that stop me from getting quality iced coffee in the manor.

“No fucking way, mate!” Blaise’s voice penetrated my eardrums as Kai and I stepped inside the manor.

“I don’t have a choice!” Thaddeus shouted. “You think I want to do this?”

I winced, and Kai shrugged, taking the bags into the kitchen, toward the argument.

“No,” he answered. “I don’t, but you should’ve argued.”

“What good would that have done?”

“What’re you all on about?” Kai set the bags of groceries containing the goodies on the counter.

Their gazes flicked to me before landing on each other.

“Does it have to do with me?” I asked.

“Yes,” Blaise said at the same time as Thaddeus said, “No.”

Kai sighed. “If it has to do with her, tell her. And tell me too while you’re at it.”

“It’s nothing—”

“It’s what the Order of the Void said about Lilith,” Blaise interrupted Thaddeus, who groaned.

My brows furrowed. “I thought you said they were fine with everything and that we had until the next full moon.”

“Which is a little under three weeks away,” Kai reminded me.

“He did say that, but he left out an important detail of the conversation,” Blaise told us, eyes narrowed on Thaddeus.

“What?”

Blaise snarled. “They were thrilled to hear we’d turned a human because that meant bait forhim.”

The guys stilled, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood. “Who’s him?”
