Three other resounding growls vibrated the room. All three of the vampires glowered at him.
Kai’s hand still gripped my hand as Blaise grabbed the other.
Thaddeus tore his glare from Travis and walked in front of me, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
“I didn’t eat him, okay? I tried to hold back, but I—”
“It’s okay, love,” Thaddeus said in a soft voice. “Youdidhold back, and it was warranted. The guy’s positively mad. I wouldn’t have put you through this if I’d known.”
My eyes welled up with hot tears as I nodded.I wouldn’t give the fucker the satisfaction of seeing me cry again.“Thank you.”
“And you passed,” Kai said, mouth dangerously close to my ear.
Shivers zipped through me. “What’s my reward?” My voice dropped a few octaves as I became more aware of the way they surrounded me.
“We start working on channeling our emotions without letting them take control,” Kai’s answered in a husky voice. “Once you graduate from me, I’ll reward you with a kiss.”
My heart fluttered, and a smile spread across my lips.
“Corbin’s a fucking mess.” Travis spat blood on the floor. Blood I suddenly had no interest in. “Not that I really care, but I bet you do. The sad sack of shit will be heartbroken when he hears about you entertaining not one, but three different men.”
It was like he’d thrown a bucket of ice water over my head, drenching my lustful thoughts.
“Shut up, human.” Thaddeus walked over and grabbed him by the neck, forcing him to his feet. “You were never here, you never saw Lilith, and you got mugged on your way home.”
“What the fuck are you—”
Thaddeus forced him to look at him and repeated what he said, pulling his wallet from his pocket and patting clueless Travis’s cheek.
Travis nodded with a hollow stare in his eyes before walking out. Thaddeus gave me a soft nod before following him out.
As soon as he was gone, my knees gave out. Blaise and Kai caught me before I hit the floor and walked me over to the sofa to sit down.
Thaddeus returned moments later with a blood bag, and I sucked that B positive down greedily.
“Thanks,” I told them with a breath whooshing out. “Ihatethat guy.”
Thaddeus sighed, sinking into the spot next to me. “Not that I give a toss, but you could’ve killed him.”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “I don’t regret slapping the asshole.”
Blaise was in the spot next to me, and Kai sat in the chair in front of us.
“I doubt any of us would be arsed about that,” Kai said. “The problem is more with what happened before.”
I arched a brow. “When I tried to eat him?”
Thaddeus rolled his eyes. “When you went into a blood-lust, yes.”
“He deserved it. He’s not innocent.”
“Who the fuck was that chav anyway?” Blaise asked.
I ran a hand down my face. “First, I know how stupid my lapse in judgment was, butthatwas my ex-boyfriend, Travis.”
Blaise snorted, Kai pursed his lips, and Thaddeus pinched the brim of his nose.
Clearly, they weren’t impressed.
