Travis’s rapid heartbeat was in sync with the burning in my throat, and my senses were overwhelmed with his human smell.

Kai let go of my shoulders and laced our fingers together. The pause in his power affecting my blood-lust was noticeable as my stomach churned from hunger.
“Fine, what about him?” I nodded toward Travis, who was in deep conversation with Thaddeus, seemingly unfazed by what had happened.
“Thaddeus wiped his mind of your cock-up. Ready to try again? We can always find a new human.”
I shook my head. “I can do it.”
“Why the fuck are you here?” Travis boomed, his gaze boring into mine from across the room.
My muscles quivered as he stomped over toward us, Thaddeus hot on his heels. I ground my teeth together as he stood in front of me.

His hand raked through his hair. “Idocare, Lil.”

That twinge of anger blazed in his eyes, the same one I’d seen a million times before. “Ironic that you’re the one telling me not to lie. Lying is your strong suit, after all. Maybe that's why people didn't start looking for you right away.”
“Stop gaslighting me, you sick fuck,” I spat the words at him.
“Katie was sick to her stomach when they did find your car though, you know?”
I shook my head, glossy red waves bouncing over my shoulders. “The bitch you cheated on me with cares too now?”
“I wouldn’t have cheated if you’d have put out more.”
“I didn’t put out because you suck in bed.”
His lips curled back into a snarl. “You stupid whore.”

My hand collided with his cheek. My palm dislocated his jaw and sent Travis flying sideways onto the floor,hard. I fisted my hands at my sides and gave him a low warning growl.
Fuck.
At least I didn’t try to eat him.
