“We will follow them out and talk while I watch. I wish to remain close to my Queen,” I heard Segrid telling Permelia.

“Let me just hand this little dude back and I’ll meet you all out there,” Per agreed.

And thus my journey in water magicks lessons began.

Chapter 12

Segrid

Months later...

“It feels good to be home,” my sunshine muttered, walking over to the bed to flop back against it. “My feet hurt,” she mumbled moments later, rolling to her side to kick out of her sneakers. The small swell where our child grew was visible even with the loose shirt she wore.

“I will rub them for you… after,” I announced, already ahead of the game, preparing a kettle of water for tea. She loved her tea, my mate.

That had my mate sitting up. “After…?” she prompted curiously, and I grinned. I had her attention now.

“After I have given you your mating gifts,” I announced.

“Mating gifts?” she squawked. “But I didn’t get you anything.”

My smile was a little mischievous. I would admit this. “You are not meant to give any.”

“Oh?” She still looked bothered she hadn’t a gift to give me, but she was the greatest gift the fates had ever bestowed on me, and nestled in her belly growing was the greatest gift she could have ever given me, beyond that of her love.

“Close your eyes, and you may have it now. Unless you would wish to wait?”

“No-no-no. I’m ready.” Sitting crossed legged on the bed, grinning, she closed her eyes and waited.

Pulling the small box from its hiding place, I carefully opened it. The delicate chain was light but sturdy, of Fae design. Placing it around my mate’s neck, fixing the clasp, she was meant to be draped in jewels as precious as she was.

Dumping the rings I’d had made for her into the palm of my hand, I told her, “And now you may peek.”

My Vivienne’s eyes popped open and she glanced down at the heart shaped pendant nestled nicely between her breasts. “A reserve,” I told her, “capable of storing Earth or Water magicks.”

Permelia wore one that looked like a totem. Her grandfather, who wasn’t her grandfather by blood and was in fact Dax’s biological father, had made it for her.

“Oh, Seg, I love it!” Her hand went to the trinket and she clasped it lovingly.

“There is more,” I announced, to her surprise and my pleasure at the look on her face. My fingers wiggled, drawing her attention to the rings in my hand. “I have noted you eyeing the mating rings of The Helm. If you find it acceptable, I would love very much to wear mated rings with you and be claimed with you by all.”

“Couples nose rings.” Vivienne whispered, her grin possessive and happy. I took that to mean she enjoyed the idea very much. A rumble to match the look on her face rattled my chest.

“There is one more,” I added finally.

“More?” she mumbled, like she was wondering how I was going to top that.

“One more,” I said with a nod. My hands went to the buttoned fall of my breeches and I waited.

“Ooooh, the gift that keeps on giving,” she joked with an adorable wiggle of her eyebrows that was meant to tease but enticed me to no end. My Queen was of great beauty, and she was barely aware of it. Her aura glowed bright enough to make a Gnome wince.

“You are ready?” I asked.

“Gimme a show, baby,” she catcalled.

Taking my time undoing the buttons down one side, I jerked my breeches down until they fell. Hands on my hips, the ring piercing my shaft on display, I told her proudly, “You liked it, as the sayings go, and have put a ring on it.”

“Prince Albert-ed The Beast,” she said on a near squeal, clambering closer to get a proper look-see.
