My heart sinks. “I’m away at a rodeo. I can’t make it tonight.”
“Can you send someone? I’d offer, but I think you should send someone you trust. Maybe over a video call?”
“Let me make a few calls and I’ll get back to you within the hour? Is that okay?”
“Absolutely.”
I could ask Gabe, but I know he has his hands full with the new kid, Warren, and he’s already watching Tater. Jackson and Riley have plans this weekend. The only other person I would trust is Diamond.
After hitting call on his name, I hope he picks up. Does he even carry his cell when he’s working?
“Miss my voice already, cowboy?”
My lips lift in a smile at his teasing. “I need a favour. A big one.”
“Oh?” He drops his voice. “Is this a booty call or a different favour?”
“Different. Listen, it’s short notice, and I’m competing in about 90 minutes, but my real estate agent called me. There’s a house that sounds great, but they want me to see it tonight, or it gets listed.”
“You want me to look at a house for you?”
“Is that too weird?” Fuck, it’s weird now that I’ve said it all out loud.
“I can’t say anyone has asked me this before, but yeah, I can do it. When and where?”
“Uh…I actually didn’t get the address, but soon. I can text you the address, and if you could maybe do a live chat with me or something? I’d really appreciate it, Diamond.”
“You know I’d do anything you need, Rhett. Happy to help. Just get me the details, and I’ll make sure someone can cover me while I step out.”
“You’re amazing. Thank you so much. I owe you big time.”
He laughs, and it makes my stomach flutter. “I’ll take my payment in naked flesh the next time I see you, then.”
A laugh bubbles out at his comment, and I turn back towards the rodeo ring.
“I might even offer you a payment plan if this works out.”
Diamond’s laugh sounds and my lips curve. He has a great laugh.
“Sounds like a great deal to me. Good luck and text me the details.”
A series of texts between my real estate agent and Diamond has it arranged for Diamond to arrive at the property around the time I’ll be in the chutes, but I’ll call him as soon as I’m done.
As I get ready for my ride and shift into rodeo mode, I’m not sure what I’m more excited about. The fact that this house could finally be ‘The One,’ or that I owe Diamond.

“Hi, you must be Arnie, Rhett’s real estate agent. I’m Diamond.”
The man shakes my hand with enthusiasm. “I’m so happy you could get here and do this for Rhett. On paper, I think it’s the perfect place for him.”
I haven’t even seen the house, but when he texted me the address, I knew he’d love the area. It’s in the country, far away from the lights of Kissing Ridge, but close enough that the commute doesn’t kill you. I might not know much about Rhett yet, but he’s definitely an old soul who loves the country.
“I’ll look outside first, Arnie, if that’s okay? I’m taking a lot of videos for him.”
“Sure. Just come in the front door when you’re done.”
