I laughed, already breathless. “Where? Merritt Island?”
He shook his head and played with a few of my curls. “Not that far. Just a half-hour up the coast.”
“It’s late.”
“We’re adults,” he whispered and placed a soft kiss on my lips. “We can handle one sleepless night.”
Leo kissed me again. This one was more heated. His fingers worked their way into my hair, lifting the locks off my neck so I could feel the night’s cool breeze. It was dark outside, so I didn’t stop him when he deepened the kiss. My hands pulled on his shirt a bit, allowing me to place my palm on his skin.
“It’s fine if you don’t want to. I’ll just walk you back.” he offered, pulling away only slightly.
I answered by simply opening the car door behind me and slipping in. He chuckled and waited until my feet were inside before shutting the door for me. My mind offered me a million and one reasons to walk home. But as soon as Leo sat behind the wheel and turned the car on, I knew none of those reasons would convince me leaving was what I wanted.
