Regardless of their freedoms or station in the societies which The Vigilant Lady Traveller may encounter, the Entwined are defined as those who are not human, whether they be Adepts or Affinates, of the Moon or of the Sun. They are mages, those who wield magic sourced from the presence or absence of light.
The extent of an Entwined’s powers varies from mage to mage, with Affinates being the weakest of their kind. All, from Adept to Affinate, possess tattoo-like threads which appear on their throat, shoulders, jaw, or temples when exposed to their corresponding quality of light or darkness. But while Affinates have no direct access to that power, only an inclination of personality, Adepts are powerful, dangerous, and guarded closely by their Guilds.
The Vigilant Lady Traveller should meet all Entwined with caution and remain alert for visible threads, whether they should appear a travelling companion, a new acquaintance—or an old.
