I grow more paranoid and don’t eat. I have to sleep, but it can’t be here. “I have to go,” I whisper against his ear.
“Hmm.” He blinks his eyes, lifting his head.
“I have to get home. Huey needs to be let out.”
“Huey?” He lets out a yawn and then recognition floods his eyes. “Oh, your cute little pig.”
“How do you know he’s cute?”
“All pigs are cute.”
My lips slant. “Not all pigs.”
He laughs. “They are to me. You should bring him with you next time.”
“Yeah. Maybe I will.” I sweep a strand of hair from his eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow? Or is that too soon?”
“Not soon enough.” He nudges his face against my hand. “That’s a lot of driving for you, though.”
“I don’t mind. I find it kind of relaxing.”
His lips tilt on one side. “Okay, tomorrow then. And bring Huey.”
I smile and kiss the tip of his nose. “I will, but he might chew on your curtains and lie all over your furniture.”
“Eh, my sister picked it all out anyway.”
A chuckle leaves my mouth. “What time should we swing by?”
“As soon as you wake up?”
“You sure?” I raise myself in the bed. “I’m an early riser.”
“I’m sure.” He sits up higher, his shoulder rubbing over mine. “I’m not much of the sleeping-in type myself, but there are other things that could keep me in bed all morning.”
“Yeah?” My lips seal over his. “Then that’s something you can show me when I get back here.”
“Deal. I’ll walk you to the door.”
“You don’t have to do that. You look all warm and cozy.”
“That’s okay.” He waves his hand. “I’m going to get in the shower anyway.”
“You’re really trying to make me wish I was staying, aren’t you?”
“Maybe.” He blushes, reaching for me, and I kiss him again because how the fuck can I not. I’ve never wanted someone this much, and I can’t seem to get him close enough when I have him.
Breaking away first, he searches for his clothes and slides his pants on as I slip on my shoes. I get up first and help him tidy up before walking with him to the door.
“It’s snowing,” he says after holding his hand outside, and I step around him onto the porch.
“Yeah. Doesn’t look like it’ll stick, and it’s not coming down too hard yet.”
“Yeah. It’s not supposed to be that bad until this weekend.”
“Then that means we have three days.” I lean down to kiss his forehead, and he stands higher on his tiptoes to press his lips to mine. “I’ll see you later, sweet Honey.”
“First thing in the morning.”
