FUCK!
CHAPTER 40
NYX
I'm slowly regaining consciousness. I'm trying to recall the events, but my last memory is of strolling along the river walk with Krya, her face bathed in sunlight. Then shit goes dark. I attempt to move my limbs slowly, yet, nothing happens. I try to open my eyes, and they are covered. I am pretty sure I am tied up, but my arms are full of tingles, like I have been in this position for a while.
“Argh.” A groan comes from next to me. “Nyx?”
Oh my God, it’s Kyra.
“Hey, Kye. I’m right here. I need you to stay calm, beautiful.” I hear her shuffling around. “You are restrained and have a blindfold on. I am in the same predicament.”
I can hear her start to cry. I would love nothing more than to wrap her up in my arms and keep her safe. I’m sure she is only collateral damage from my stalker. The asshole has finally gotten sick of watching from afar. At least that’s my assumption. I can’t imagine we were just a random abduction.
The hard floor we are laying on has got to be wood. I can feel small splinters breaking off under my fingers, and it is rubbingmy skin raw every time I try to move.Ok, think Nyx. What do I need to do to make sure Kyra stays safe?
“Kyra, I need you to promise me something. I am almost positive this is the handy-work of my stalker.” Her sobs get slightly louder. “Kyra, are you listening to me?”
“Yes.” She whimpers out. I know she is terrified. I am almost positive that Mike has been abusing her, but she has been hiding her pain well, so this is probably just piling on to the trauma.
“Take a deep slow breath with me, Ky.” I breathe in as loud and slow as I can. We hold it for a few seconds before I give her the direction to breathe out. I continue this process with her for a while before there are footsteps walking up what sounds like a rickety porch.
The wood creaks and groans like it is going to snap in half, and whoever is walking up the steps will fall right through. The door slams open, hitting hard on the wall, and I feel Kyra jump at the noise. She is trying so hard not to bring attention to herself, but her sniffles are still loud enough for me to hear. I try to reach my hands back as far as I can just so I can touch her and maybe bring a little comfort in her panic.
My world spins as I am yanked off the floor, still not able to see what is going on around me, or who has taken us. I am flung over their shoulder and dropped unceremoniously onto what feels like a couch, but the material is scratchy and the cushions feel very worn down.
“Well hello, Nyx.” That voice sounds so familiar but yet I can't place it.
The light blinds me as my blindfold is ripped off my eyes, blinking furiously to try, and regain my vision. As my eyes start to adjust to the muted light coming in the windows, I realize that I recognize both faces looking down at me.
Nick Gordon.
Jack Williams.
What the actual FUCK!
“You have got to be fucking kidding me.” I lash out with every ounce of sass I have left in me. I refuse to let these two see me weak and scared.
SMACK.
Fire lashes through my cheek from Nick’s palm. Tears instantly well in my eyes, and I blink them back. These assholes will never see me break. If I can keep their attention on me, it will hopefully spare Kyra the worst of it.
“Now listen here, you cunt. You are going to fix every last damn thing you broke!” Nick snarls at me. The vein at his temple throbs, showing his irritation with me already.
“Nick, I don’t know what you think I have done, but it was not me.” I don’t understand why he thinks I have anything to do with what happened after our break-up.
“My own damn family loved you so much that they cut me out of everything when they found out I cheated on you.” Nick has a hold of my face. I can feel his breath.Bleh.Jack just sits in the corner with a sneer on his face but keeps looking over at Kyra. I don’t like the look on his face.
“Nick, that is not something I could ever predict. I didn’t leave you to get your family to hate you. I left because you chose Julia. That was a decision YOU made.”Slap! He hits me again, this time I feel my lip split, and the blood starts to ooze out of the crack.
Think, Nyx, how do you reason with this man? He is obviously unstable and thinks this is all your fault. Think, damn it.
“Okay,” my voice shakes no matter how much I try to keep it level. “What do you need from me?”
“We are going to have some fun first, and then we will discuss my plans, and trust me, Baby Girl, I have plans.” That nickname sends chills through my body, and my stomach rolls.
“You can have all the fun with me, but let Kyra go. She has no part of this-“
