And I still thought about the kiss he’d given me that day in my room.
Nico always seemed to make it clear that he liked me—even long before that kiss.
I pulled him toward me.
‘Don’t forget you two are being watched,’Elio’s dry voice cut through my thoughts and made me jump back away from Nico in order to search for the alpha.
On one hand, finally being able to hear his voice was a blessing that I never thought I would get the chance to experience, but on the other hand?
Elio was a giant nag.
It had never occurred to me before that signing and saying words slowly had hindered his ability to scold me to the best of his ability. Now I knew better.
Dr. Stedmeyer had told us it was a possibility that our being able to talk to each other mind-to-mind might fade with time seeing as our double-bond was the first of its kind.
And boy was he wrong.
In fact, it had only grown stronger in the few days since the wedding. Now he could communicate with me without even needing to see me. It was like we had walkie-talkies embedded into our heads.
Then there was the occasional sharing of our vision.
It was like having a third entity living in my brain right alongside the omega and alpha part of myself and it was definitely an adjustment.
‘Why does it matter if I’m being watched?’I shot back, irritated at being interrupted.
‘Because it’s not just our pack that is watching you,’Elio replied, cool as a cucumber which, somehow, made me more annoyed.
A flash of the two suited bodyguards that my father had insisted come along with us filled my mind’s eye, dampening my desire.
They were reporting our every interaction back to my father.
I wouldn’t be surprised at this point if they were going to hold a glass to the door at night to see if we were busily creating Amante’s new heir.
Not that any of that had been happening.
We were all sleeping in the same room, but instead of anything remotely spicy happening I woke up this morning after falling asleep on the airplane with four bulky bodies sleeping on the floor around my bed.
And even despite his scolding tone, my heart still fluttered at the wordsour pack.
‘Get out of my head, sweetheart,’I told him sarcastically as I shook off my anxiety about the men in black who were hovering on the back porch of the beach house.
‘Fine, have it your way, peanut,’he shot back in the same tone before I was alone in my head again. Well, sort-of alone in my head again.
The omega part of me was currently demanding I kiss the alpha in front of me and the alpha part was irritated at being told what to do by anyone let alone Elio.
A hand waved in front of my face and I realized I had been zoning off arguing with Elio while Nico still stood in front of me.
‘Was my cousin bothering you?’He signed his question this time.
I nodded.‘He’s bossy.’
Nico’s grin was wide as his shoulders shook with laughter.‘He has always been bossy. You just couldn’t hear it before.’
I rolled my eyes at that.
‘I don’t know how I’m supposed to have all four of you in my head if you are all going to be like him,’I signed with a shake of my head as I kicked off my flip flops and waded into the clear, blue water.
It wasn’t as if we knew for a fact that I would be able to hear all of their voices in my head if we double-bonded like I had with Elio. Dr. Stedmeyer had hypothesized that it would be possible… or that something completely different could happen.
