My Tot, I hope you live the happiest of lives. We will meet again, I feel it deep in my soul.
All my love,
Your Nicky
I pressed a shaking hand to my mouth and finally let myself cry, my sobs echoing throughout the mausoleum as I read and re-read the letter until my vision was too blurred by tears to continue.
I cried out all of my grief and longing for my family until it was all gone and was replaced with something akin to peace.
I folded the letter up and put it back into the envelope. I would put it into my box of treasures when we returned home later.
I used my sleeve to wipe away the rest of my tears. My eyes would be swollen, but the guys would have felt my emotions anyway, so there was no point in hiding.
They were waiting for me with open arms when I left the mausoleum and I let myself fall into their warm embrace.
“All better?” Storm asked, pressing a soft kiss to my lips.
I nodded, giving him a wobbly smile. “All better.”
We all piled into the car and I was cuddled onto Podcast’s lap as Doc pulled away from the curb.
I expected him to take us home, but instead he went in a different direction. “Where are we going?” I asked curiously as I watched the city begin to fade into the distance.
“It’s a surprise,” Doc said, his eyes meeting mine in the rearview mirror.
An hour later we were parking in front of the ocean. I could hear the roar of the waves even inside of the enclosed car.
“This is Cape Cod.” Rex reached back to give my knee a squeeze. “We wanted to show it to you once Silas had everything all cleaned up.” The Sons of Silence owned the Cape now and Silas had put his own men in charge of the place the Titans used to live.
“I’ve been,” I told him, “but not since I was very small.”
Podcast opened the door and I scrambled out into the chilly air. It was late fall but cold enough that we had the beach all to ourselves.
I pulled my shoes off and chucked them into the car before running for the sand with a shouting laugh.
“Dammit, Juneau, wait for us,” Doc called and I turned to see them hopping around as they struggled to get their shoes off.
“I don’t wait for slow people!” I teased as I spun around in the sand, letting the icy wind whip my hair around my head. My heavy curls were gone, I’d cut them the week after returning to the future. Now my blonde locks sat just below my shoulders, marking me permanently as a resident of the modern age.
Podcast caught up to me first, his arms wrapping around my torso as he lifted me off of my feet. I let out a squeal as he ran headlong for the ocean.
“Don’t you dare throw me into that cold water or I won’t sleep with you for a week,” I scolded and Podcast skidded to a stop right before the water.
He let me slide down his body, his green eyes on mine as he pulled me in for a kiss, the crashing waves in front of us a romantic backdrop.
‘I love you,’he signed when he finally pulled away.
“And I love you,” I whispered as the rest of our pack finally joined us. Bat immediately tugged me into a dance, lifting my arm above my head as he expertly twirled me around.
“You two are going to give me gray hairs,” Rex muttered, but his eyes were smiling.
“I think you’d look refined with some gray,” I told him, making sure to kick a bit of sand in his direction as Bat dipped me.
“Brat,” I heard him growl.
“I love you too, Rexy,” I said with a laugh as I gave Bat’s chest a pat to stop our little dance. “I love all of you.”
I wasn’t sure what the future held for us, but as I stood on the beach with them I realized that a life with the men I loved was going to be the greatest adventure of all.
