“And french fries covered in this sauce,” Juneau put the notebook down to scribble down the newest addition to the list before pausing. “What is the sauce?”
‘Thousand island,’I spelled it out with my fingers.‘My favorite.’
“Mine too!” Juneau scribbled the word down before putting her notebook away.
Rex called Doc’s name from behind the bar and we watched the alpha sigh. “You’d think that working a day job during the week would get me out of the bar shift, but no dice.”
‘You know you love it,’I teased before shooing him away with my hands.‘Now go, leave me and Juneau to our own fun.’
Doc rolled his eyes. “You two have fun and please behave, I don’t need to get into any fights defending your honor tonight.”
With that he turned to help Rex with the rush of patrons waiting for their drink at the bar.
He didn’t need to be so worried, most of the patrons ignored us completely. Alcohol had a way of numbing the senses, so most of the people walking by wouldn’t be able to pick up on our omega perfume. Not unless they came really close to us, which would send several pissed off alphas in their direction. So we were pretty safe, even by my own standards.
Safe enough that I was feeling bold.
‘Want to play a game?’I asked, pulling out the flask of whiskey that I’d hidden in my pocket this morning when I initially came up with my plan.
“A game? What kind of game?” Juneau asked, looking up from Storm’s computer which she’d been fiddling with since we sat down.
‘The drinking kind,’I wiggled the silver metal flask in front of her.
“I’m a terrible drinker, I get woozy with just a few glasses of champagne and the few times that I snuck some of my father’s bourbon I nearly vomited all over my mother’s nice carpet,” Juneau admitted with a blush.
I grinned, knowing that she’d say something like that.‘I’m a bad drinker too, let’s be bad drinkers together.’
“Aren’t we supposed to stay out of trouble?” She nibbled on her lower lip looking over my shoulder to where Rex and Doc were undoubtedly still busy at the bar. Outwardly she looked reluctant, but I could see the sparkle of mischief in her eyes when she met my gaze again.
‘Have you ever stayed out of trouble, Juneau Wilde?’I asked, knowing I had her.
Juneau laughed and shook her head.
“...okay, fine, but tell me what the game is first,” Juneau said and took the flask from me. She opened it and scrunched her nose when she got a whiff of the whiskey inside. “If we get into trouble, I’m blaming you.”
‘Completely fair.’I grinned at her, excitement thrumming in my veins.‘The game is called never have I ever…’
‘Never have I ever worn a dress before,’I signed with an evil smile as Juneau glared at me and took a swig of whiskey.
“I feel like that’s cheating, PC.” Her words were a little bit slurred as she spoke. Her cheeks were ruddy and flushed from the alcohol and I was sure mine probably looked the same. The use of Rex’s nickname for me made my whole body buzz with warmth as she handed the flask back to me.
‘Men in the future wear dresses too, it’s just never been my thing,’I signed slowly so that her blurred vision could keep up. I was going to have to start typing on my phone soon if the game kept up because I was just as drunk as she was.
“You’d look nice in a dress,” Juneau mused to herself with a tiny little hiccup.
‘Thank you, now ask your question,’she was stalling and I knew it. If she didn’t get on with the game I was going to have to tap out because I was much drunker than I’d meant to be. It was taking everything that I had to keep the bond muted so as not to let the rest of the pack in on our secret fun.
Juneau pouted. “Fine, hmm.” She tapped her chin as if deep in thought. At some point during our game she’d pulled the hair tie out of her hair and let her golden girls bounce around her face and I found myself reaching for one of the stray curls and winding it around my finger.
Her brows furrowed with concentration before suddenly smoothing out as she came up with her next question.
“Never have I ever been knotted before.” Her blue eyes sparkled and her cheeks were red as she spoke. Juneau clapped a hand over her mouth, an inebriated giggle slipped out between her fingers. “I’ve never said that word out loud before.”
‘Knotted?’The sign for knotting was two fingers with a fist closed over them and I felt my own cheeks warm as I watched her mimic it.
“Yes, mother would faint if she knew I was talking about it with anyone, especially someone of the opposite sex.” Juneau fiddled with the top of the flask that I was still holding. The tips of her fingers brushed across my knuckles, sending pleasant tingles traveling up my arm. “But mother isn’t here, and I do believe it’s your turn to take a drink.”
I obliged, bringing the flask up to my lips and taking a swig of the burning liquid, catching the hand that had been touching it before she could pull it back into her lap.
