“That too,” he said, giving me a grin. He grabbed the covers, sinking lower in the bed and pulling the covers over us. “Butmaking love to a woman. Hard, fast, furious, that’s fun. But god, I swear our souls were together.”

“They were,” I said, laying my head on his arm and curling against him, a leg over his. “And it was epic.”

He sighed, kissed the top of my head and I closed my eyes, praying for another night, or rather morning, of this.

But just as we both got comfortable, his phone beeped, the noise letting us both know who it was, and under me, he tensed.

Chapter 14

Roman

Istared at my screen for only a split second, cursing under my breath at the six simple words from Marcell.

Move, your asses have been found.

“Saranna, time to go,” I told her, racing out of the bed.

This was no longer a safe zone for her.

Chapter 15

Saranna

Ididn't know what to think when he said those words.

How the hell did anyone find us way out here? Even better yet, how did Marcell know about it? Did they figure it out?

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to focus on those questions, I needed to get my ass up and going, following Roman.

I jumped out of bed, threw my clothes on, and then started packing what was needed, mainly my briefcase because everything else could be bought. But I also didn't believe they were even close to the house yet because Roman hadn't gotten any notice.

“I don't know how Marcell figured that out,” Roman said, walking out of his room with his own bags, “but I'm glad he did. There's nothing that says they crossed the property line, but I have no doubt they'll a lot closer than I'd like.”

“I'm sorry,” I told him, meaning it. I was distracting him with sex and feelings when he should have been focused.

He grabbed the back of my head, forcing me to look at him.

“I slept with one eye open. My feelings for you and our actions did not stop me from doing my job, I told you that. This,” he said, waving his phone, “would have been caught, just later. You are safe, Saranna, don't doubt that.”

“I don't,” I whispered, and it was true. I didn't. I knew he would do whatever to keep me alive, but I wasn't above putting my own life on the line to protect him too.

I stood on my toes to give him a quick kiss, thanking him with that for now.

He looked at me for a moment before smiling. He took my hand in his and raced us to the car, throwing the few items in the back.

I climbed in while he made sure everything was locked up.

“Still nothing,” he said, pulling out of the garage and closing the door, making sure to arm that as well. “Guess that’s a plus that they were further out than we thought.”

“A lucky day indeed,” I teased him, pulling my hair up in a ponytail. “There’s a gun in the glove compartment, right?”

He glanced at me sharply before turning his eyes back to the road that led off his property.

“You know how to use a gun?”

“Roman, I’m a daughter of a mafia man, and my circle of friends are mafia men. Yes, I know how to use a gun. You point and shoot.”

He rolled his eyes and let out a groan, which I couldn’t help but laugh at, because it was so far from the truth. Something that my father made sure of was once I hit fifteen, I was at the shooting range at least once a month.
