Antoinette: Cami, what are we looking at here?

Cami: I’m not sure. The whole thing’s been a whirlwind.

Carolina: Oh, I do love instalove.

I immediately go to deny any type of love, but before I can even type a word in, the messages start falling in.

Issa: Or fated mates.

Antoinette:

Carolina: Forced proximity, one bed, comfort...

Zion: I can assure you we have more than one bed here.

I manage to interject before they continue to throw out random strings of words that have no meaning to me. I’m sure this must be what Cami meant when she said they were romance lovers. I vaguely remember some conversations I had with Cami recently about these people, and now I’m kicking myself for not paying closer attention.

I mute my phone as I get sick of the incessant pinging. I lie back, smiling in bemusement as the ladies go hog wild. I haven’t actually met any of these people, but I’m getting a good idea of why Cami gets along with them so well. They’re just as frigging crazy as she is.

Antoinette: How much time do we have?

Zion: Basically none. This is for today.

Carolina: Well, that’s a shame.

Issa: That’s quite disappointing. I was hoping we could help.

Cami: What the hell, Z? Why call in the cavalry if we can’t be of assistance?

Zion: Pretty sure I only sent a message to you.

Cami: Fair point.

Zion: I just needed a couple of ideas to make it a little more meaningful than a slam, bam, thank you ma’am over the kitchen counter.

Antoinette: I don’t know, that sounds pretty romantic to me.

Carolina: I can attest to it definitely being romantic.

Issa: Oh, I’m adding that to my list.

Cami: And see, this is where the difference in Kaian and I’s height becomes a problem.

Antoinette: *Laughing emojis*

Carolina: And now I will never get that image out of my head.

Zion: Same.

Zion: Now, can we be serious for a second? I’m running out of time.

The chatter dies down as I’m sure they’re either thinking seriously about options or thinking of new ways to blow up the chat with nonsense. And it’s not like I’m stupid. I get the concept of wining and dining, but given the intensity of the situation, it just doesn’t seem quite right.

Cami: Kaian told me about your hocus pocus mumbo-jumbo, so maybe you should skip the wining and dining formality and skip right to the good stuff.

Antoinette: Hocus pocus mumbo-jumbo?

Cami: Yeah, fate and destiny and shit.
