Mmm. What a range of flavors before me.
I allowed myself to wonder for a moment as to what I looked like, my face covered in blood, still wearing Crissa’s greasy clown face paint…it had to have been terrifying to witness such a sight. And by the looks of these two before me, it was clear that I had truly demonized my vessel in the best way possible. In all my time possessing humans, this had easily become one of, if not the most rewarding. And I was only just getting started.
I shall have to thank dear Crissa for such a sublime opportunity.
“Crissa, I know you’re still in there!” Token shouted, his words weak. “Come on man…” Sweat beaded along his face, his breathing shallow and rigid. Not only had he grown weaker by the minute, but the human’s pleas were now whiny and pathetic. He exuded fear, not only for himself, but for others. And his pain was oh so juicy, making my mouth water at the fantasy. “Please,” he panted. “Just let us go. I—I know we hurt you…but it was all Sybil’s idea!”
S-s-s-s-s-Sybil.
I glanced down at his bloodied hand, pressed against his stomach. It had soaked his shirt completely and was seeping between his fingers onto the floor beneath him. I knew his life was dwindling and I wouldn’t be able to hold back much longer.
“Come on, man,” I mocked, tilting my upside down head left to right as my hair swung around in the air. My body fell to the floor, turning over onto my stomach as I crawled beneath the table and inched closer. I leaned in close to his face and shouted, making both of them jump “Crissa isn’t here!” I spat at him. Skin and bloody spit coated Token’s face, and he gagged at the remnants from my last indulgence. My tongue extended from my mouth, reaching out to lick the splatter from his cheek while he sat there, horrified. “Crissa is gone,” I growled. Aggressively, I gripped his face and squeezed his chin tight, dipping the tips of my claws into his skin. “The name is Zeth…and I am the third appointed demon of the divine, sought after by humans to enact their retribution.” I widened my black eyes, making sure he saw me and couldn’t look away.
“Retribution?” Ryder stuttered.
Without looking away from his brother, I answered him, “Indeed.”
Reaching down, I pressed my other hand against Token’s wound, adding enough pressure to stop the bleeding for a moment. “I want to play a game with you two.” My voice was back to normal now, a bit cheery even. “But first, you should know more about me.” I studied the humans as they sat side by side, the smell of fear intensifying as it radiated off of them. “Now…” my gaze lingered. “You see, dear Crissa summoned me one fateful night. A night you and all your friends pushed her too far.” A growl rippled from me. “She made a vow, offering her vessel to me to use as I see fit, as long as I fulfilled my part of our bargain.”
“W-what was your part?” Ryder asked.
I grinned, glancing at him for a brief moment. “To enact her revenge on those who harmed her, of course.” My eyes returned to Token’s, his dark irises staring right at me. “Since then, dear Crissa and I have had some time to get to know one another. And in that time, the longer I inhabited her body, the more I tapped into her soul and witnessed.” My stare bounced back and forth between the two as I continued. “I have seen all Crissa has ever experienced; everything she saw, heard, touched, smelled, tasted—I know all of it! Her senses and memories have become mine, and the longer I remained seeded in the depth of her soul, the more impatient I have become to serve her.” I paused. “I know about every single one of you…and I know exactly what each of you have done to her. Ever since I first possessed this human, I have been taking my time, plotting my little games, and envisioning exactly how I wanted to hunt all of you down for how you have treated her. I have watched you from behind her eyes, listening through her ears as you continued to hurt my human. And for all the things she has had to go through, and the things you have ever done to her, I will return ten fold. No human is worth a demon’s energy…but I guess I have grown attached to my dear Crissa, for she is the one human I do not wish to harm. And I plan to deliver her revenge one way or another.” Bending down, I licked Meaty Arms face. “Mmm. Humans do taste so delicious. Especially when they are knocking on death’s door.” He tried his best to pull away from me, but my claws dug deeper along his chin, making it difficult. “And since you were all nice enough to come here tonight, you just moved up my timeline.” I grinned. “Oh, don’t worry! I’m not complaining! I would never complain about a meal, even if it is delivered a bit early.” I licked my lips, salivating at the thought of being so close to tasting him. Releasing the hold I had on Token’s wound, my now bloody hand rose to my face and I licked the fresh blood from my palm. “Mmm. Revenge really is the sweetest meal of all.”
“What the fuck?” Token whispered, tears slowly dripping down his face.
Taking advantage of the moment, both humans shot from beneath the table. I let them go, knowing they wouldn’t get far.
Now we’re talking!
I popped my head from under the table, shooting my arm out as I pointed at them both. “Yes! I like this game! Run boys! Run!” My head launched back into an ear-bursting cackle. “If I catch you, I eat you!”
I backed away from the table, slithering back to the floor, allowing them space to run. The uninjured twin sprung to his feet and grabbed at his brother’s arm, trying to pull him along, shouting back to his brother. “Token come on!”
“Just go, Ryder,” Token breathed. “I’ll–I’ll be fine,” he mumbled. “Just go! Get out of here!” He watched his twin hesitate before leaving. His weak heart pitter-pattered, telling me he didn’t have much left within him.
“Oh no you don’t! You’re dying—both of you! I’m not letting you leave when I haven’t eaten a single part of you yet.” I squatted down next to Token as he tried to crawl away, smearing his blood across everything. “Oh, what a mess. And such a waste of good blood.” I pouted, looking around to see a few other giant pools of blood around the room, soaked into the black and neon geometric carpet. “So much blood wasted…and no one but me here to appreciate its worth. I almost feel bad for the humans who have to scrub it away…almost.” I winked. “Alas, it seems we are done playing. I’m growing bored of you, and my mouth is watering.” I gripped him by the neck and pulled him up onto his knees with no effort. “Boy, I am quite glad I didn’t hit your arms when I shot you.” I poked the muscle on his arm, digging my claw along the wound Crissa left with the keys earlier in the night. “It would have been such a disappointment.”
“What is your weird as fuck obsession with my arms?” His question came out breathy. He was fading quickly from all the blood loss.
Pity.
“I simply think they are nice and juicy. And will make a pleasant addition to my little side project. Too bad I won’t get to sink my teeth into them. Oh well, a demon can dream.” With a swift swing of my arm, I easily threw the man back, listening as his head knocked against the ground with a loud, echoing crack. A groan slipped from his lips before he passed out.
I dallied over to his body, stepping on either side of him before popping down into a squat across his lap. I huffed while the tip of my claw glided along his blood-soaked shirt, ripping it open to examine the bullet wound more closely. The little metallic thing had hit him right in his gut, piercing an organ which had been leaking ever since, coating his skin in layers of his blood. Leaning down I licked around the wound, my tongue sliding along the wet surface before I stuck it deep inside the bullet hole. His blood coated around my tongue and filled my mouth as I tasted the viscous heat of his insides. “Mmm,” I moaned into him while his blood bubbled around my face. I was aching to consume him and ready to taste the fear in his heart.
“Get ready, big boy.” My voice filled the orifice of his wound. “For I am going to devour you!” I ripped the bullet wound wide enough for my hand and buried it deep inside of him. His warmth and blood seeped all around my arm as I wiggled my fingers and slithered up through his chest, ripping away at his organs, to locate his heart. I felt around, wrapping my claws around the muscle before snatching it in my grasp and pulling it back out through the same hole. “Oh my,” I breathed, feeling its warmth in my clutches. I admired the dark red beauty in my hand as his blood dripped down my forearm. “Riddled with fear and lust, how interesting. A mouthwatering combination.” I slowly brought the heart to my mouth and took a giant bite. Blood squelched out of the sides of my mouth, spilling down the corners of my lips and coating my teeth.
How divine he tastes!
A handful of rats appeared at my side, squeaking as I finished off his heart. “Enjoy this one as well, little vermin…but do mind the arms. I need them.” They squeaked and ran onto the corpse, biting into it.
I watched in admiration, picking some muscle from between my teeth with my claw. Another rat scampered across the room toward me and squeaked for my attention. “Hmm?” Bending down, the little rat crawled up my arm and onto my shoulder. “What do you say we look for the other twin?” I asked. The rat squeaked, calling out more rats from the dining area. They quickly followed me, shadowing behind as I stepped from the old party room. “Oh Ryder,” I sang out.
The rats scampered off to the left of the party room, searching as I aimed to the right.
He couldn’t have gotten far…
I took a large, heavy breath, inhaling all around catching his scent. The other twin was here. “Mmm, you watched the whole thing, didn’t you, Ry–der?” I tried to draw out his fear to locate him, feeling it increase with each passing second. “I must say, in all my centuries of existing and aiding humans, I have never tasted twin humans before.” A rumbling laugh vibrated behind my chest. “I do wonder how similar you will taste. Will it be the same? Or completely different?” I sniffed the air. “Your fear smells similar to your brother’s, but still so unique.”
