“You didn’t miss that, huh?” Buck chuckled.
“Nope. And I know there’s a story. But…” Spencer looked back and forth between Buck and Bobbie.
He winked, the bastard.
“…I won’t hold you up. See you in the morning.”
His brother gave him a huge, toothy grin, closed the door behind him, and jogged over to his truck.
Yes. Alone with Bobbie.
She sat patiently, clearly not knowing where his mind was at. The two remaining puppies, his and hers, were sound asleep on her lap.
“You, uh, okay to spend a few more minutes with me before I bring you back to your shop?” Buck asked as casually as he could manage.
“Yeah. Sure,” she answered, giving him a cheeky smile. “Any particular reason?”
Right. He wasn’t pulling anything over on her. She’d always had his number.
“Well…” He coughed at the roughness that suddenly crept up his throat. “We’ve accomplished the conversation we needed to have. So now…”
He trailed off. Maybe she’d put him out of his misery.
“SonowI get to touch you,” she purred. “It’s about fucking time. That first kiss I laid on you earlier…”
She reached into her pocket.
“Here. Have a piece of gum.”
CHAPTER 16
Bobbie didn’t knowwhat had gotten into her.
Uh,wait. Yes she did.
Buck.
She’d never been this bold in her life, but she felt like sheknewhim. Shedidknow him. And her libido wasn’t taking no for an answer.
She giggled to herself as Buck drove. Hopefully the gum would take care of the onion breath he sported. If it didn’t? Screw it. She was going to kiss the begeezus out of him anyway, and she damned well hoped he would be reciprocating.
In planning mode, Bobbie slowly and carefully reached for the old quilt that Buck had put on the back seat, and moved it to the floor. Gently, she placed one snoozing pup then the other on the soft nest of material, and sighed in relief when they snuggled in. The pair, cute as a button and clearly exhausted from their momentous day, immediately cuddled together, and fell even deeper into slumber.
Sweet.
That made plenty of room in the front seat for…
Whatever gymnastics might occur.
Bobbie licked her lips.
Would kissing start out slowly and easily between her and Buck, or would they jump right into devouring each other like starving animals? Once they’d reached their destination, should she cuddle up to his side or straddle him where he sat in the driver’s seat?
Questions, questions.
Seriously though? There could be no wrong answer.
“Cut it out, Bobbie,” Buck rasped over at her.
