“Good girl.” He leaned down and kissed her abused flesh.
“I might have to kill you,” she muttered.
He laughed against her and nipped her ass.
She yelled, even as something heated uncoiled inside her.
“Oh, sweetheart, you’re perfect.” Then, his dangerous fingers trailed between her legs.
She gasped and arched closer to his hand, needing relief. Craving it.
“God, you’re so wet for me.” He gently slid through her wetness and then ruthlessly plucked her clit.
Heat spiraled through her, and she exploded, crying out his name as she splintered into a thousand pieces. He forced her to ride his fingers until she came down, gasping for air. His chuckle was dark, amused, and somewhat pained.
Then he pulled her over to land on her knees between his legs, grabbed her hair, and kissed her hard. She kissed him back, leaning up and clasping his face, pulling him toward her in a feverish movement.
She needed him, and she needed him now.
It didn’t make any sense, and she’d rationalize it later, but for now, she unbuckled his belt and jerked him toward her. They fell to the floor, and he kicked off his jeans, reaching between her legs again.
“Now, Seth.” She wanted him to fill her as only he could.
He opened her wide and then thrust inside, his weight on his elbows to protect her. Pain and pleasure detonated throughout her, and she held on to his muscled arms, gasping for breath, needing him more than air.
He thrust inside her with hard, punishing strokes, and she took all of them, wrapping her legs around his hips and climbing toward another pinnacle. He held her on the edge and then moved slightly, brushing that spot inside her that only Seth Volk owned.
Electricity zapped through her, and she closed her eyes, arching as another climax tore through her.
He powered inside her even harder, then bit her right on her mating mark, sending her into a third orgasm—or maybe it was a continuation of the second. She didn’t know, and she didn’t care. Shutting her eyes, she let the storm shatter her into a million pieces that only he could put back together. A whimper of his name rolled from her mouth.
He jerked hard with his release, his mouth on her jaw.
She slowly came down, panting. Aches and pains already made themselves known on her flesh. Her eyes widened when she looked up at him.
He leaned down and kissed her nose.
Mia slid her hands along his arms. She wanted to be angry, but right now, she felt satiated and protected. It didn’t make sense, but she felt what she felt.
Still inside her, his primal gaze pinned her as easily as his body did. “What are you at all times, Mia?”
She swallowed. “Safe.”
Chapter13
Seth opened the door to the sheriff’s station, his body loose, and his mind finally clear. While he had enemies coming at him from every direction, he knew his home was safe for now. He had dropped Mia off at her cabin, and after a brief argument with Erik, had gotten his brother to remain on guard instead of on Seth’s flank. For now, she was safe, and that was all that mattered.
He strode inside and ran smack into a human, who bounced back. The guy looked up, his eyebrows raised. “Who the hell are you?”
Seth cocked his head. “That’s irrelevant. The important question is: Who are you?” He knew everybody in this town, wolf shifter and human, and he didn’t recognize this guy.
The human male had to be around forty, stood to about five foot ten, had sandy blond hair, and wore rumpled cargo pants and a wrinkled shirt. He smelled like a breakfast burrito. “I’m Willie Williamson,” the guy said, his face scruffy and his belly wide over his belt.
Huh. That was quite a name. “Why are you in my station, Willie?”
“It’s your station?” Willie pulled out a notebook. “Are you the sheriff of this town? Because I heard the sheriff died, and it was my understanding that a new one couldn’t be elected for two weeks.”
Seth looked around the reception area and wondered where everybody was right now. As if on cue, two people bustled out from behind the door. Both shifters, and both people Seth trusted. Claire, and her cousin-in-law, Todd Fulsome.
