By Garrett Kayrs.

He kissed her cheeks, his tongue catching tears she hadn’t realized she’d let fall. Her heart swelled. This night would be a memory she’d take with her beyond this world. Maybe beyond the next.

Even as her emotions exploded, her body started to move restlessly against his. Need built in her so quickly, she had to open her eyes. Metallic gray irises surrounded by dark blue watched her carefully.

One of his broad hands gripped her hip, holding her in place. He stabilized himself on his other elbow, so big and strong above her. How was he even real?

Then he dragged himself slowly out of her, caressing each needy nerve.

She gasped and stilled.

His grin was wicked with a side of sweet. He pushed back inside her, watching her carefully.

Delicious decadence coasted through her. Her hands relaxed almost on their own and then explored his chest, tapering down to the ripples in his abdomen muscles. His skin was heated, the muscles beneath sinewy. So much beauty in one person. In a vampire-demon immortal. “Garrett,” she whispered.

He kissed her again, his tongue flicking hers.

Then he pushed inside her again, this time with a little more force. She caught her breath, wanting more.

Needing more.

He searched her face, apparently saw what he wanted, and then sped up his thrusts.

The feeling of fullness, of wildness, took her hard. She arched into him, wanting all of him. She needed to have every ounce of him he could give. Her breasts jolted in rhythm with his pistoning, just adding to the incredible pleasure.

His head ducked, and he nipped her ear, his fingers digging into her hip and marking her. Hopefully for a week or so. She wanted to carry his fingerprints as long as she could.

He half-lifted her, driving deeper inside. She couldn’t breathe but no longer cared. There was so much pleasure rioting through her, all she could do was grab his powerful forearms and hold on.

His fangs slid into her neck, sharp and intense. Heat swirled around them, along with sparks in the air. He was an inferno, around them and inside her. For a second, just a blink of a thought, she could feel his heartbeat in perfect tune with hers.

Then the explosion blasted out from them both as he drove even deeper, branding her, making her forever his. An agonizing burn flared along her hip. She cried out, tears leaking from her eyes, as her body drained him, taking as much of him as she could have.

Her heart beat so wildly her chest hurt. She whimpered as she went limp, caressing his rib cage and around to his back to hold him as tightly as possible.

She closed her eyes to just feel.

His fangs gently withdrew.

Sighing, she opened her eyes and let her smile show. “That was incredible.” Better than she could’ve ever imagined.

He stilled. Completely.

“What?” she whispered, noting the widening of his eyes.

He lifted one hand and looked at his palm. “I marked you.”

Chapter Sixteen

Garrett stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist, glancing down at his aching palm. The jagged and deadly marking of his family—a deepKsurrounded by sharp and wicked-looking lines.Hismarking. His ears were ringing and his heart still battered his rib cage.

He’d marked her. On her hip.

How was it possible? Sure, she’d taken his blood, but she still felt human. Felt human to him. And he hadn’t even noticed the marking appearing on his hand before it transferred to her flesh.

He wasn’t a male who was caught off guard. Ever.

Dessie had left scratches across his abs, and he fought the natural healing cells in his body to keep the marks there. While his torso was impenetrable from neck to waist, his skin was fair game. To her, anyway. She’d dug right into his heart, and he wasn’t sure what to do about that. Well, now she was his mate, so he’d better figure it out.
