The hand on her hip flexed, and he pushed inside her, one inch at a time, letting her body accept him. Finally, he was fully inside her, pulsing.
Oh, God.
He warmed her from within, so hot, so large. Holding her in place, he began to move, slowly at first, and then with a speed that fluttered her lids shut. Pleasure cut hard through her, too intense to allow for anything but total immersion.
His thighs shoved hers farther apart. A strong hand banded under her chin, lifting her head, keeping her firmly in place.
She couldn’t move if she wanted to.
He hammered into her, his stomach against her back.
Faster.
Harder.
Stronger.
“Now, Mia,” he whispered in her ear.
A blast of heat spiraled from her core, shooting through her torso and limbs. Intense waves of raw pleasure rippled through her as all sound, all sight, all thought disappeared into insignificance. Too powerful to be termed an orgasm, the flash of light enveloped her, and she cried out his name.
Sharp canines sank into her right shoulder, the pain catching her second cry in her lungs. Her eyes flashed open. On pure instinct, she struggled to escape the hurt.
He held her tightly, his teeth piercing tissue and muscle until embedding in bone. With a low growl, his jaw snapped shut, and his teeth met in the middle. He pounded into her—taking as he marked.
Tears ripped into her eyes. She gasped, coughing out pain.
He stopped moving and ground against her, his entire body stiffening as he came. Slowly, he relaxed around her. His teeth retracted.
She cried out as they scraped back through her flesh. A shudder racked her body.
He withdrew and tugged her to the ground, pulling her onto her back so he could cover her. Gentle hands smoothed the hair from her face and wiped away her tears.
He kissed her. “I’m sorry I hurt you, Mia. I’m so sorry.”
She nodded and took several deep breaths. “I’m all right.” But she wasn’t. Not even close.
Chapter24
Mia settled her stance and peered around the tree. Pinks and golds lightened the eastern sky as the sun peeked above the mountains. The wind had banished the clouds, but the rain had drenched the ground. Her boots offered stability, her gun gave her security, but her shoulder burned like a brand.
Just before dawn, Seth had retrieved her go-bag from the trunk of her car, so she’d have clothes and a weapon for this meeting. Apparently wolves could travel distances faster than she’d imagined.
Wolves. This wasn’t a dream. Last night had really happened, and a wolf shifter had bitten her to the bone.
So far, she didn’t feel any different. Maybe Seth had been full of it and had just wanted to bite her. Of course, those canines had reached much farther into her flesh than ordinary teeth could without causing serious damage. Her orgasm had been incredible, but that could've resulted from an adrenaline rush and gratitude at still being alive.
But there was no discounting reality. Right now, her only focus had to be on protecting her family.
As she took in the ten men silently waiting near her deck, she wondered how long she’d be alive. While none of the them appeared to hold weapons, as wolves, they probably didn’t need them. The cabin lay dark and quiet in the background. Hopefully, Gena and Dotty would sleep through whatever was about to happen.
Mia gripped her weapon with sure hands and slid into view.
Seth stood next to her, still barefoot, still only wearing jeans. An animal in human form.
Barely.
Relief crossed Benjamin Volk’s face as he gazed at his son. So he had heard about the cabin being burned down. Hardening his expression, he widened his stance while the other men remained passive and stoic behind him. His eyes burned, and he kept his gaze on Seth. “I’m sorry it has come to this,” he murmured.
