Logan stood and put his dishes in the sink. “No problem.”
Garrett eyed the burned towel on the counter but didn’t comment.
Zane looked around. “We found Sam. You and Garrett are going to have to handle the extraction while I try to avoid war. You up to it?”
Adrenaline ripped through his veins. “Hell, yeah.” He’d wanted to go in for Sam since the first moment his brother was taken. “Any word on Ivar?”
“No,” Garrett said, his gray eyes somber. “We have no trace of the Viking. Not a one.”
Fuck. That wasn’t good. Logan narrowed his gaze on Zane. “You can’t teleport all three of us. That’ll leave you weakened when you meet with the leaders.”
Zane shrugged. “Not mentally. Dage is already in place with security, so I’ll be fine. I’m your only option unless you want to fly to Scotland.”
Logan shook his head. The twelve-hour flight would take too long. He had to get to Sam, and now.
Garrett handed over a sheet of paper. “There’s a Fae compound right outside of Edinburgh. Here are the schematics. I think Sam is in the dungeon.”
Logan memorized the layout, and then shoved the paper in his back pocket.
Mercy came in from the other room and stopped short at seeing the other males.
Logan held out a hand, and she hesitated before moving to take it. “Zane is going to teleport us to Scotland.” He’d secure Mercy at the safe house before going for Sam.
Garrett nodded. “I have allies meeting at the safe apartment. We’re a go.”
Mercy blanched. “Why?”
Logan studied her. They were past the time for lies. “We found Sam, and we’re going in to get him. I’ll try not to hurt anybody too badly.” Especially since there weren’t many Fae left.
She paled and studied the three of them. “All four of us via teleportation?”
“Yep.” Logan hauled her against his side, sliding an arm over Garrett’s wide shoulders.
Zane bunched his legs and leaped forward in a tackle, taking them down and into nothingness.
Logan grimaced in the darkness. Being teleported with two others made the ride more painful than usual, and the time spent hurtling through space and darkness went on for too long. Finally, they landed in the center of the apartment.
Mercy pushed away from him. “You’re not very good at this, Zane.” She held a hand to her stomach and took several deep breaths.
The thought hit Logan that when they mated, they’d gain each other’s gifts. He’d develop the ability to teleport, and she’d learn how to stop somebody from doing so. Would she also learn how to attack minds? Most mates couldn’t, but who knew about the Fae? They had unexpected skills.
Garrett moved to the door and opened it, allowing two soldiers to step inside. “For protection.”
Logan threw him a grateful look. He needed to keep his focus, and he would’ve worried about Mercy’s safety while he infiltrated the Fae’s property.
Zane sucked in air and hugged Garrett. “Be careful.”
“You, too,” Garrett said, hugging him back.
Zane turned and clapped Logan on the shoulder. “Bring Sam home, and be careful. No mercy.”
Logan stepped in and hugged his brother. “I’ll call you the second he’s secure. Love you, bro.”
“Love you, too,” Zane whispered, zipping out of sight.
Logan turned and moved to open the wall of weapons, instantly pulling on a vest and tack gear. He tossed a gun to Garrett, who flipped it around a couple of times and then nodded.
Mercy edged away from the soldiers. “Four of you soldiers aren’t enough.” She held up a hand before he could say anything. “No, I don’t know where Sam is being held. But wherever it is, four isn’t enough—not against the Fae defenses.”
