“Get out of the way, or I end him,” Logan snarled, his fangs dropping low, holding the Fae soldier a foot off the ground by the neck. Jocko struggled, his feet kicking, his face turning an unhealthy red.

“Do it,” Niall said, angling his body to block Mercy.

Logan struck the back of Jocko’s neck with his fangs, his fingers shoving beneath the Fae’s chin at the same moment. Blood spurted, and Jocko’s head bounced, landing several rocks away.

Mercy’s stomach heaved.

Logan threw the body at Xeno, who blocked with a swipe of his massive arm, sending the corpse toward the burned crimson trees. It landed with a thump and twitched once before going still.

Bile rose in Mercy’s throat, and she swallowed it down.

Logan partially turned, blood on his fangs, his shirt torn to reveal solid muscle. “Get away from her, Niall.” The raw threat in his voice heated the already boiling air.

Mercy yanked two of the knives out of her boots. She tossed one at Logan, who caught it easily. Then she circled Niall. Why hadn’t she spent more time learning to fight with weapons? He shook out his hands, dropping into a fighting stance, his muscles knotting.

Xeno bellowed and ran at Logan, sword out. Logan pivoted and flew into motion at Xeno, his arm up with the blade. They collided with enough force to send a ripple through all of the sparkly rocks. Mercy locked her knees to keep her balance, nearly falling on her face.

She kept her knife at the ready. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

Niall dropped to a crouch and then stood, withdrawing a weapon from his boot. He shot before she could blink, and the taser tore into her, electrocuting and burning her nerves. She gasped and absorbed the pain, dropping to her knees. Then she lifted her head, even though her neck muscles had gone soft. “You havegotto be kidding me.” Drool slid out of her mouth. The asshole had another taser?

Her energy sputtered out. She was stuck here.

Logan and Xeno fought fiercely, sword to knife, parrying across the strange rocks and colliding to punch and kick, spraying blood all over the diamonds.

They moved nearer.

Mercy gathered her strength and rushed Niall with the knife. He blocked her, smashing down and knocking it from her hand. Her strength was gone. The taser had loosened her limbs. She could barely remain upright, but she faced him, trying to gather enough power to punch him in the nose.

Still fighting with Xeno and drawing nearer, Logan yelled her name.

A rush of air burst over her skin. She paused.

“Drop!” Logan bellowed.

She obeyed instantly, hitting the diamond rock and bouncing. Xeno rolled toward her just as Niall dove down, manacled them both, and dragged them painfully through space.

The last thing she heard was Logan roaring her name before darkness took her completely.

Chapter 40

Logan dove for the Viking and shut his eyes, trying desperately to open a portal. The fire burned over his back. The rock opened up and they fell through, landing in the center of the circle back on Earth.

His heart thudded and his body felt like it had been through a cement mixer. He groaned.

Strong hands grabbed him, and Garrett leaned close, his eyes worried. Sweat coated his face. “You alive?”

“Barely.” Logan didn’t protest as Garrett hauled him up, rushing him out of the chamber while Adare threw Ivar over his shoulder and followed.

The air cooled up the trail, and finally they stood outside in the snow. It was fucking heavenly. Logan looked at the members of the Seven. His brothers and the warriors who would save the world. God, he hurt. But he shook his head. “I have to get to Mercy.” Niall had her, and he was with the Cyst. God, he had to hurry. “Need to breach Fae headquarters again in Scotland.”

Garrett nodded. “Then that’s what we’ll do.”

Adare grunted under the weight of Ivar, who looked even worse off than he had before. Burned almost beyond recognition. “I have two choppers en route. Need to get this guy to safety.”

Logan struggled to contain his panic. Ronan’s mate was a doctor, and no doubt Adare needed to get back to his mate as well, even though supposedly he didn’t like her. “We’ll be in touch as soon as we can.”

Benny slapped him on the shoulder. “What do you need from me?”
