Page 21 of How Forever Feels

I already knew where Parker’s mind was going, and there was no point in trying to stop him. Parker saw something that needed to be fixed, and he would fight to find a way to fix it.

“Alright,I’ll get you cleaned up, and we’ll run the blood work right away,” Caroline, my nurse, said, passing the blood sample off to another nurse.

Parker squeezed my hand, grinning at me as I sat on the gurney. “Thanks, Caroline.”

“I heard rumors that you had returned, but I thought that for once, the gossip mill was wrong. I was sure you had said you were never coming back here.”

“That was the plan, but then I met Blake and…things just fell into place.”

His blue eyes connected with mine just like the first time I’d met him, and in that moment, all my irrational anger fled. This was Parker. He was one hundred percent on my side, and I was a fool for ever thinking he was interested in anyone else.

“Yeah, I’ve heard about your romance. Quite the story,” Caroline grinned. “Very passionate. She shoved you through a window. You shot her.”

Caroline looked up and away, a wistful smile on her face. “Don’t you just love how people get together?”

“You’ve seen too many action movies,” Parker laughed.

“Maybe I have, but I still think it’s romantic as hell,” Caroline said as she continued to clean the gash on my arm. “It’s not every day you get to hear about someone you know saving the world. Is it true that you knew someone who was infected?”

“Man, news really travels fast around here,” I muttered. “How did anyone even get those details?”

“Oh, well, I’ve been checking on Liam. I ran into your mom this morning,” she said to Parker. “It was quite the story. I hear both of you saved the world.”

While that was true, it was still odd to hear it. “There were others who helped us.”

“So modest,” Caroline grinned. “I like her. So, you’ll be living here now?”

“That’s the plan,” Parker said.

“Well, everyone around here is so glad you’re home. I mean, once the news of your actions circles the town, you’ll be given a parade, and everyone will be chomping at the bit to talk to you.”

“Yeah, after they basically bullied him out of town,” I muttered.

Caroline wrapped the bandage around my arm, securing it tightly. “Well, unfortunately, that’s the way it goes in a small town. You’re a pariah one minute and a hero the next.” Standing, she headed for the door. “I’ll be back shortly with your bloodwork. Just sit tight.”

Sighing, I leaned against Parker, already exhausted from the day. “This is not the way I thought we would make our big appearance in your town.”

“Well, it’s not dull.”

“No,” I laughed, “but it’s not exactly the quiet life I was hoping for.” Tilting my head up, I smiled at the man I loved. “So, are you gonna take the job?”

“What, the law enforcement thing?”

“Yeah. I mean, it’s what you’re good at.”

“You just want to see me in that brown uniform,” he chuckled.

Tugging him closer by his belt loops, I pressed a kiss to his lips. “You have no idea, baby.”

Deepening the kiss, he slid his fingers through the hair at the nape of my neck. My hands immediately slid around his waist, tugging him closer to me.

“Baby,” he murmured against my lips as he bent me over the gurney, climbing on top of me. His thick cock pressed against me through his jeans, instantly igniting a fire inside me.

“We shouldn’t do this here,” I gasped as he thrust his hips against me.

“Why not? Can’t get you more pregnant.”

“What if I’m not?” I asked as he nibbled his way down my collarbone, kissing the swells of my breasts.
