Her eyebrow popped up in amusement. “Is that a concern? That you’re going to shoot someone?”

“Today’s feeling pretty damn good for a shooting,” I grumbled, eyeing Remi like a bug I wanted to squash.

“Just remember, I’m your partner for the time being.”

I wanted nothing more than to stomp the glee off that man’s face, but it was going to have to wait. Killing him would only make Blake upset and get me fired.

So, I listened to him banter with my wife, and even tried to pretend I wasn’t pissed at how much she seemed to like him. It was rough, and the more I was around him, the faster I decided all the different ways I could get rid of his body.

Well, what was left of it by the time I was finished with him.

Finally, the food came, and I really thought that would be the end of it. After all, there was food. People would shut the hell up and eat.

But did that happen?

Not even a little.

“Hmm, this is so fucking good,” Remi groaned around a bite of omelette. “You have to try this.”

But instead of allowing her to cut the omelette with her own fork, he used his, then stabbed it and held it out for her.

“Hey!” I snatched the fork out of his hands, glaring at the man who dared to let his spit touch my wife’s mouth. “What the fuck are you thinking?”

Mav and Remi both grinned at me like I was a psycho, which I definitely felt like one right now, but it was all because of this deep-seated jealousy I felt boiling up inside me. It had to be because she was pregnant. I’d never felt this way before.

“Uh…” Remi chuckled uncomfortably. “I was just letting her try some food, man. Chill out.”

“Chill out? Did you seriously just tell me to chill out?”

“Yeah. It’s food. It’s not like I was impregnating her.”

He called it, and what’s worse, he was mocking me for it. So, I flipped the script on him. “That’s not what I’m upset about.”

“Sure,” Mav nodded. “Your anger has nothing to do with the fact that Remi almost let his lips go anywhere near your wife’s mouth via a fork.”

“Actually, I was concerned about his germs, asshole.”

“Right,” he chuckled.

“She’s pregnant. I don’t know where his mouth has been. For all I know, he has some horrible disease that transmits through saliva.”

“Sure,” Remi chuckled.

“Actually, it’s not that far off,” Blake defended me, though I had a feelingshe was merely playing devil’s advocate. “You should have seen what that virus did.”

“The one you stopped?” Remi asked.

She nodded, shoving a bite of food in her mouth, but before she could say anything, she moaned. And it was no ordinary moan. It was the type that sent a shock straight to my dick and made me want things I shouldn’t want in the middle of a public place.

And Remi noticed. Fuck, Maverick noticed, too.

I glanced around the diner and saw that everyone seemed to take note of the noises coming from my wife’s mouth, and that only further angered me.

“Look, the point is, unless I see daily testing, your mouth is not to touch anything that might go in her mouth.”

Mav snorted, but it was because of the innuendo he seemed to think I was making.

“Got it,” Remi grinned. “I won’t put anything in her mouth.”
