Two seconds.

Back on.

I throw my water-bottle on the bench and turn around, leaning on the boards just in time to see August trip on our teammate’s stick.

A grin curls my lips, “watch out, Auggie, there’s gravity.”

He sends a glare my way and barrels towards me, promising death if he can get his hands around my throat.

I laugh before skating in the opposite direction, taunting him over my shoulder and smiling while everyone else laughs from the sideline.

DAVIS

Blair’s eyes are locked onto the girl across from me, he’s hungry.

Out of everyone in the house, Blair is the most similar to me when it comes to women. We’re both like wild animals when an attractive girl enters our line of sight, one minute we’re laughing with friends and then the next we’re wrapped up in a tangle of limbs and sheets.

Part of me wonders what goes through his head. There’s a darkness that takes over when he sets his eyes on someone. Something more… obsessive.

The girl sways her hips, hands above her head, watching Blair out of the corner of her eye. She’s just as into him as he’s into her. Her fire-red hair is pulled up into a messy ponytail, one she has no problem flicking around as she taunts him.

“You look like you’re about to rip her clothes off,” I say to him.

He chuckles, never taking his eyes off of her, “that’sbecause I am. I’m just waiting for her to come over here and beg me to do it.”

Rolling my eyes, I scan the room. I haven’t seen Claire in a while, and it’s making me nervous. We finally got her back, and while she’s still learning to trust us again, I feel like we’re back to where we were before… well, everything.

I know she can hold her own, but I have this need to keep my eye on her every time we enter a public space. Nathan Thomas snuck into a Livler party and fucking raped her, I’m not willing to chance something bad happening to her again.

Itcan’thappen again.

But I keep reminding myself that she’s probably off somewhere with Steph, taking shots and perfectly safe with her bat shit crazy best friend by her side.

If there’s anyone who will have her back, it’s her. The girl almost ripped our heads off when she found out what happened to Claire, and I have no doubt she’d be willing to do just that if anyone tries to hurt her friend again.

After spending so much time away from her, I’ve realized I need her. Obviously, I don’t ever want her to go through anything like that ever again, but I also don’t want to lose her.

I’m finding it harder and harder to keep my little secret from her, she makes me feel like I can tell her, like I can confide in her.

Sometimes it feels like I’m standing on thin ice, like any second it will start to crack under my weight and suck me down into the darkest depths until there’s no way to get out.

I’m holding onto Claire like my life depends on it… because it kind of does.

“Her friend is looking at Davis like she wants to ruinother women for him,” August smirks. He points a hand in the dancing girls’ direction, dragging my attention back to reality and forcing me to look at the tall blonde next to her.

Her hair lies in soft curls over her shoulder, reaching just above her hips. Red lipstick covers her pouty lips —lips that are pulled into a flirty smile. She’s gorgeous, and based on the way she’s raking her eyes up and down my body, she’s definitely looking to have a good time tonight.

“Adding one to the count, I gather?” Lucas laughs, taking a seat on the couch next to ours with a fresh beer in his hand.

Hell fucking yes.

Blondie walks over to me with her lower lip pulled between her teeth, her eyes filled with promises of nasty things. “Hey,” she says seductively.

I nod my head and pat my thigh, inviting her to take a seat while her friend approaches Blair.

Guess both of us are getting laid tonight.
