She was there in a few moments, giving the little girl a small cup filled with honey, and a spoon. Bending a bit over, and Damian’s blood rushed a bit. Fuck. Watching Cassie taste the honey gingerly.

“Mhm…. So goood. Kevin, taste it…” The little boy took his pacifier out and let her shove the spoon in his mouth. Smacking his lips.

Maria turned to Damian. “Anything else, Sir?”

His eyes played with his voice. “Not right away.”

She smiled and left, swaying her hips.

Damian got up, driven by this new idea. “I need to go. I think I might know what you need.”

Gabe looked at him, puzzled. “What?”

“Honey.”

“But… how?”

“I’m going to find some, that’s how. There are bees, that’s for sure, I’ve seen them. Never bothered to give a fuck where they were going, but now, I am going to find out.”

“I’m not sure how honey can help?”

“Your nature ex has never told you?” Poking his tongue out as he latched his knife on his hip.

“He said it was healthy…”

“You see?” He leant down to kiss him. “You have water here. Food?”

Gabe shook his head. “No… I’ll try to sleep. Don’t stay too long.” That mad fright in him seeing him leave.

“Don’t worry. I know this island inside out. I’ll be back soon.”

Gabe watched him leave, his eyes drifting to the leaf ceiling. Closing his eyes on that burning pain.

Damian walked effortlessly in the rising heat, sweat pouring down his body, but he only had his boxers on, a water bottle, and some jars in his backpack. Looking for flowers in the trees and bushes, listening for bees. That memory bringing back up some unwanted ones, marveling a bit at that man in them.Still me… fuck…A vague shame there, even if it didn’t mean anything anymore in that damp jungle, all his senses focused on spotting those bees, scanning the trees and bushes. Some flowers, close. He walked there, spotting some bees busying themselves in those fragrant petals. Great. Waiting until one of them took off, laden with pollen, so he followed that tiny beast as best as he could, bumping into tree branches littering the soft leaves and soil. Fuck.He wiped his eyes, spotting another bee.Ok… ok… no big deal…That pit in his stomach thinking of Gabe. Trying to push out the thought of him dying. Impossible.Almost losing his concentration when he spotted a large snake.Focus. Bees. The buzzing stronger. Leaving that snake.Next time.Listening, his breath held back… buzzing… he turned around a tree, spotting an opening in the trunk. Bees crawling in and out.Perfect.His lips curled up, and he looked around, spotting a muddy puddle, so he rolled himself in it, covering his body with that thick mug. Now, to smoke them out. He built a small pyre, lighting it with his glasses. He waited until the leaves and twigs made a thick smoke and chased it towards that gap. Watching the bees buzz out, frantic.Great…He hacked then at that gap, opening it wider, that hard tree trunk a real challenge, but he didn’t give up.

Soon, he could plunge his hand in, biting back a yelp as he got stung.Fuck.But he kept clawing, meeting something soft and sticky, so he pulled it out, his palm filled with honeycomb, dripping a thick liquid. He lapped at it and had to sit as the sugar rushed into his body. After two years off of it, it almost made him faint, breathing deep, that sweet taste on his tongue making his eyes swim and his heart race.Fucking hell… heaven…Licking that sweet honey, he felt like the world was sparkling, not caring about the bees stinging him, despite that hardening mud crust on his body.More. More.Dizzy with the sugar high, he clawed some more out, filling his jars, digging the pupae out too.Good little snacks. He marked the tree with a huge X carved into the trunk with his knife. Hurrying back, ignoring the stings aching on his skin.

Gabe had heard Walter squeal, so he knew Damian was back. No point trying to listen to his steps, Damian was more silent than a shadow, even when he climbed up to their nest.

Gabe’s eyes went wide at that dark grey body. “What…?”

A flashing smile in that dark mud. “I’ll wash later.”

“I’m not going to ask why…”

“Don’t. But I found honey for you. Look.” He pulled a jar out, showing Gabe the thick honeycombs. Some still had the pupae in them who had drowned in the honey.

Gabe pulled a face. “Ugh… what are those?”

“Protein source. Baby bees.” He laughed and sucked some out of the comb, rolling his eyes as his teeth crunched them up. “Pure heaven. Taste it.” He handed a piece to Gabe, who sucked at it gingerly.

“Wow…” Laying back with that sugar rush, Gabe felt like being set on fire. “Jesus…”

“Yes… suck some more.” His eyes smiled as he shoved a honeycomb in Gabe’s mouth, pushing his index and middle finger in too. His lips parting when he felt Gabe’s tongue slide on them. “Mhm…”

Gabe’s eyes shined, but he kept sucking, licking Damian’s fingers.

Damian pulled them out, slightly scolding. “Little fuck… don’t tease… you’re not in any state for what I have in plan for you.”
