“And now... let’s see where the good citizens enjoy themselves...”

They roamed the city, looking for whores, brothels and soon enough, they found the district.

Kyle’s face lit up. “This place, they will let you rent me out... I can stay here and leave a portion of my earnings. Easier for you, as you won’t need to be involved.”

Marius looked at the door, holding Kyle’s arm in an iron grip, his voice soft. “No...”

“What? But...”

Marius took his hand and strolled out of that street, not letting Kyle’s hand go, and they burst out on a small square, near a fountain. Marius whirled around and held him tight. “No fucking way. It’s not happening, love. You are not a whore.”

Kyle's emotions raced at his words, a warm feeling inside of him but also vague panic. “But... we need that money.”

Marius stroked his face. “No, we don’t. We’ll manage, we’ll walk all the way... I don’t care when we get there, but I’m not selling you out to other men... no way.”

Kyle gave in, his heart melting, and they kissed, Marius hugging him tight.

Their long journey began then, a slow progress made, but their hearts were at ease, hunting again, trading, buying weapons, hunting some more. They were dressed like rogues, in leather pants, tunics and boots, their hair brushing their shoulders, traveling together almost like brothers, as the weather got milder, the promise of spring in the air, and the roads becoming busier as they approached the heart of the empire.

Rome.Rome, at last, after weeks of walking and trading. They stopped, looking down at the prowling city, hugging in the setting sun’s rays.

“We made it, pet.”

Kyle just nuzzled his neck, disbelieving. It seemed surreal...

Marius grinned. “Come! Let’s surprise my wife!”

Kyle looked at him, puzzled. “Are you sure? Maybe go, and see your parents first.”

“No. I want to go home... see my daughter.”

Marius’ heart raced at the thought and he hurried, Kyle strolling behind him, setting their bodies on a swift jogging pace which had become routine.

Soon they were at the gates and took to the hill where his villa was in long strides, the streets so familiar. Kyle’s heart raced in his chest. He had left a year ago... it seemed unreal to be back, walking on the warm paved streets. But he focused on Marius’ broad back, his raven hair floating behind him.

They stopped in front of the villa's door, panting, radiant smiles on their faces. Marius knocked, and they waited, holding their breaths slightly, their stomachs filled with butterflies.

Slowly, the door opened and Sixtus peeked out, the old man not recognizing them straight away in their clothes and with their long hair. “We don’t want to buy...”

“Sixtus!” Marius’ voice boomed, amused. “Don’t you recognize me?”

The old man’s eyes grew wide, and he wavered, almost fainting when Kyle caught him, mildly chiding Marius with his eyes.

“Dominus... dominus...”, the old man tearful, his voice quivering, “We thought you died...”

“Well, I am very much alive. Where is my wife?”

A strange expression crossed Sixtus’ face and his eyes closed. “In her room...”

“Excellent!”

Marius whirled and left before Sixtus could stop him, and he clutched at Kyle. “Go after him, boy.”

Kyle frowned, but first he gently sat Sixtus down and went to the kitchen to get some water where Shayla and Lis screamed their hearts out seeing him, hugging him, mad with joy.

Marius took the stairs two by two, his heart racing. He didn’t love Seraphina but was willing to give her another chance.Hell, maybe we could have another child. He grinned and opened her door, his voice freezing in his mouth.

She was in bed, her hair loose, tumbling down her back, riding a man, their moans interrupted by him bursting into the room.
