“I don’t believe this,” Jack whispered, frozen. “Hillary, is this true?”
“Jack, listen to me—” I stammered, but he just shook his head. He turned to look at me, completely heartbroken.
“You were with Gale behind my back? When I heard all those rumors about you, I didn’t believe them. I thought it was the media that was lying,” he whispered.
"Jack, please give me a chance to explain,” I said. “It’s true that Gale and I were together, but it all ended a while back. I didn’t play you—”
“These pictures are recent, aren’t they?” he asked.
“It was a mistake,” I said. “A very big mistake. I shouldn’t have done it. I was going to tell you the truth, Jack. I was going to tell you everything, but I—”
“I thought you just didn’t feel strongly for me,” he whispered. “I didn’t realize you were sleeping with other men behind my back. You are just a gold digger, aren’t you?”
“No, Jack, please,” I said. “It’s not like that—”
“I am going,” he said furiously and stormed off.
“Jack!” I said, running after him. “Jack!”
As I tried to follow him, I stumbled over something and fell face-down on the floor. It took me a minute to realize that Stella had tripped me.
“Oops,” she said, kneeling down and pretending to help me.
“Do you really think you could have Gale?” she whispered. “Did he tell you that there is nothing between him and me? That he hasn’t even been with me? Did he tell you that you were the one he cared about? Well, he lied.”
She held out her phone, showing me a picture of her and Gale lying together, kissing each other and holding each other.
“See?” she whispered. “He lied. He is just playing with you. Men like him like having multiple women to sleep around with. One at home and one at the office. He probably has another woman elsewhere. You are being used, Hillary.”
She smirked at me and then said, “This is your last warning. Stay the fuck away from my man.”
