“Believe me,” she said. “You don’t want others hearing this.”
There was something in her eyes that scared me, and I slowly turned around and walked into my office. As the door shut behind us, I turned around to face her.
“What in the hell do you want?” I snarled at her.
“I told you,” she whispered. “I want you back.”
“And I told you that it will never happen,” I growled.
“And I told you that you will regret it,” she said.
With that, she threw a file on the table, and I looked at her suspiciously before picking them up.
“What’s this?” I asked.
“Some pictures that might interest you,” she said smugly. “And a reason for you to love me back, Gale. You will see that you do want me after all.”
As I looked at the pictures, I felt the blood drain from my face. It felt as if though the earth had disappeared from underneath my feet, and I looked at her, horrified.
“Recognize these?” she whispered. “Just think about it. Think about the fact that the world might find about this. Think about the impact. How everything would be completely and utterly ruined. Not just you, Gale, but everyone you love. Even the slut outside. Everyone.”
“You can’t do this,” I whispered. “You can’t.”
“I have copies,” she said, “So you can keep those. I have evidence. A lot more evidence. Wanna hear what I have?”
I saw her mouth moving, she slowly told me everything she had, and the more she spoke, the weaker I felt.
“I told you,” she said in the end. “You will regret it.”
She walked towards me and grinned before taking my hand in hers.
“I do love you, Gale,” she said. “I really do. Won’t you say you love me too?”
I stared at her, knowing there was nothing I could do. She had won this. Her trap was too perfect, and there was no way out of it.
“I- love you too,” I finally whispered, feeling sick to my stomach.
Chapter 6
Office Slut
Hillary Beck
Ityped up Gale’s closing arguments without any mistakes. I needed to have it printed and filed, so he could take it to the next hearing. I looked up at his office and sighed. Gale and Stella had been inside there for a while now. The blinds were drawn, and I had no idea what was going.
So, that was Stella. Gale’s ex, I presumed. I could see why he liked her. She was drop-dead gorgeous, utterly sexy, and knew how to carry herself. She commanded attention wherever she went. She was perfect trophy wife material, and any man would consider himself lucky to have her. I looked up at the office again, feeling uncomfortable for some reason.
I didn’t even know Stella was back in Gale’s life. What was she doing here? What did all of this mean? I felt strangely jealous and angry, thinking of them in there, all alone. It was probably nothing serious. I didn’t know what happened between Gale and Stella, but I knew that he was clearly hurt by it. I doubted he wanted anything to do with her.
Even though he and I hadn’t discussed where we stood, I knew we shared something special. Just that kiss we shared at the hospital was proof of it. Asking me out on a date, even though I didn’t make it, was proof enough. There was something between us. And yet, despite these thoughts, the jealousy in me reared its ugly head.
Suddenly, his office door flung open, and I stood up. Stella marched out of there, her high heels echoing on the hardwood floor as she walked. Her hips swayed from side to side as she cat-walked straight towards me.
She stood there, a sneer on her face as she looked at me from top to bottom. Her eyes trailed over my simple blouse and skirt and then down at my heels. She smirked as her eyes rested on the simple bun I had made that morning, and finally, she glanced at my pale lips.
“So, you are the office slut, aren’t you?” she said. Even her voice was melodious and sensual. Her bright blue eyes looked at me, as she tossed her blonde hair, and then she smirked at me.
“Excuse me?” I said, too shocked to say anything else.
