“Let’s go get more drinks,” I shouted, and dragged Erica towards the bar. We pushed through the crowd of sweaty people gyrating against each other.
“Another round of shots!” I shouted at the bartender, and he poured our drinks.
“I swear, I am so angry,” I grumbled. “If I ever see him, I would punch him, you know? Ask him who the hell he thinks he is! Does he think he’s better than me? Because he isn’t!”
“You tell him, Hillary!” Erica shouted. She grabbed one of the shots and downed it, and I followed suit.
“Such an arrogant, egotistical bastard!” I shouted over the music. “I could break his arms!”
“Come on, let’s go back,” Erica said, and we grabbed our glasses and made it back to the rest of the group. I was sure I was spilling the drink everywhere, but I somehow managed to make it back to our table.
“Hey, Erica,” Christie whispered loudly. “Isn’t that him? That’s the guy from the picture you showed me!”
“Oh God, that’s Kyle!” Erica said.
I looked up and saw him standing there. The man from the picture in the dating profile.Kyle.That sleazeball stood me up, and now he was here, probably to pick up more women.
“I am going to give him a taste of his own medicine,” I said, getting up and feeling furious.
“You go, girl!” Erica said. “Go tell him that he messed with the wrong person.”
“You guys,” Julie said, “I really don’t think this is a good idea.”
“No, you go and tell him exactly who he has messed with!” Christie cheered.
I mustered up my courage, and marched towards him, feeling fury building in me. This man was the reason I had been humiliated and embarrassed earlier. He thought that he was better than me. That he could just chat up Erica all that time, and then suddenly not show up.How dare he?And now he was here flirting with more women?
“Hey!” I shouted, my words slurring. “Hey, you!”
The man looked up, his bright green eyes looking into mine.
“You!” I shouted. “Yes, you! You think you can just stand me up like that! You think you can be an asshole and just keep getting away with it!”
I threw my drink in his face with all my might, feeling waves of fury surging through me.
He just stood there, looking at me in absolute shock. It took me a minute to realize that Kyle didn’t have such green eyes in his picture. No, they were brown. And he didn’t have such a sculpted face – his had been a bit rounder. As the realization dawned on me, I gasped. I had made a mistake. This wasn’t Kyle after all. I looked around for my friends, but they were all on the dance floor, dancing away. I could see Julie trying to handle the other two, and she hadn’t noticed my predicament yet.
I opened my mouth to stammer out an apology, but I never managed to get the words out. Because a second later, I leaned over, threw up on his shoes and then collapsed.
