The glint in Ellie’s eye when Aidam told her what to do was enough to send him over the edge, but when she slowly started to ride him, raising her body up and down in a rhythm all her own, he knew he could not hold on very long.

Each exquisite movement of her body over his had him in a state of breathless, ecstatic desire. He could think of nothing save for her. Using his hands, he grabbed her waist, not to control her movements, but rather as a way to hold on for dear life. She rode him expertly. It was as if he were a wild stallion and she the one born to break him.

“Ellie…” he moaned.

“Am I doing this right?” she whispered, breathless in her own abandon.

“Aye, lass. Yer perfect.”

With his approval, she gained more confidence and began to move faster. He took a hand from her waist and moved around to the point where their bodies became one. He did not have to search long for that one golden spot on her body that controlled her own pleasure. Using his thumb, he teased and cajoled the tiny bud mirroring Ellie as she slid up and down on his hard cock.

“Och ye feel like silk, lass,” he moaned. The pressure inside him began to build, and he knew his finish was close. Yet, Aidam refused to allow himself to fall over that cliff of desire without bringing Ellie along with him.

“Take what ye need, Ellie,” he said. And she began to ride him harder…faster. She whimpered a sound that could have been a prayer or could have been his name. Aidam no longer cared. It was all about sensation now. As her body began to tighten around him and her motion became more frantic with need, Aidam finally allowed himself to let go. Together they fell over the cliff and into sweet escape.

The bedchamber was pitch black when Aidam opened his eyes. The soft scent of vanilla mingled with lavender and their entwined bodies wafted over him, and he smiled. Ellie lay content in his arms. Her eyes closed in sated slumber, and a small, satisfied smile touched her perfect lips, still swollen from their lovemaking.

“I love ye, lass,” he whispered into her hair. “I think I’ve loved ye my whole life. I ken I will love ye forever and always.”

“Ye could’ve said somethin’ sooner,” she whispered back. Aidam could barely hold in his laugh.

“I thought ye were asleep.”

“Nay, just restin’ me eyes. I’ve been too excited to sleep. Do ye really want to marry me?” Aidam looked down into the endless green of her gaze as she looked up at him.

“I asked ye, did I not?”

“Aye, ye did. It just seems like it’s all a dream. That the events that brought us to this place were real, but somehow the outcome has been too good to be true.”

“I’ve thought the same thing, but Ellie, I ken ye and I are meant to be. It isn’t luck or chance. Nay, it’s fate. Even if ye spent most of our youth hatin’ me. Ye love me now. That’s all I need.”

In the dark of the chamber, Ellie smiled. Wrapped in Aidam’s arms, listening to him tell her how much they belonged together warmed her heart.

She did indeed waste an awful lot of time and years irritated by Aidam, yet she recognized her disdain now for what it was, infatuation. She had been fascinated with him for as long as she could remember, and now he was hers. That infatuation had blossomed into their love. She would change nothing.

“Do ye remember when ye found me in that alcove in the great hall a few weeks ago?”

“Ye mean the day ye were sopping wet and madder than a newly branded cow?”

Ellie let out a small giggle. “Aye, that would be th’ day. So ye remember?”

“Aye, I couldnae forget. Even soaked to the bone and looking like ye wanted to tear me limb from limb, I thought ye the most beautiful creature in the world.” He ran a finger down her cheek, and Ellie turned into him, resting her head on his chest.

“I was glad that it was ye who found me.”

“It certainly didn’t seem like it, the way ye took a bite out me for findin’ ye.” Aidam laughed.

“I was so foolish. I wasn’t angry with ye, not really. I was mad at meself. I desperately wanted ye to kiss me that day,” she admitted as heat crawled up her cheeks. “That wasn’t the first time I thought of it either,” she admitted. “I think that’s part of the reason why I was always so cross with ye. I could never tell how serious ye were about anything, and it only made me want ye more.” She looked up to find Aidam looking down at her with another sideways grin. God, how she loved it when he looked at her that way. It was as if they were in on a secret together, only the two of them, and it was mischievous.

“Lass,” he said, sitting up and turning her to face him fully. “I’ve wanted to kiss ye since ye came of age. Ye needed only say the word.”

“And what word is that?” she teased, placing her hand on his chest.

“Any word, any word at all,” he answered before taking her lips with his again in a kiss that made her forget every bad thing that had happened to them.

“I love ye, Aidam Sinclair.”

“Ye do?”

“Aye, always and forever.” Ellie knew she and Aidam were finally home.
