“Always the truth.”

“I lied.”

She closes her eyes and leans her head back against the door as a sigh escapes. That little sound almost does me in, and it takes all of my restraint to push away from her.

“Have lunch with me tomorrow.”

She breaks out of the moment. Clearing her throat, she adjusts her shirt and smooths it out. “You’ll have to call Stella to see what’s available.”

Blair offers me her most professional smile, and God, if I don’t love that sass she throws me. I take a moment to admire her incredible ass as she walks toward her car and then immediately wonder how the fuck I’m going to convince her to give me another chance.

“Didsomeone order potato balls and guava strudel?” Jess sings as she slides into my office.

Stella pops up out of her chair to grab the boxes from Jess, squealing with excitement. “My favorite thing is when you come to visit us!”

“You only love me because I feed you,” Jess jokes.

“That’s not true! I mean, I love all the snacks, but I think you are an amazing person. You are beautiful and talented?—”

“I’m just kidding, Stella. I know. It’s ok!”

I’m not sure how Stella has kept her positive and innocent personality. She is a genuinely nice person, and that’s rare in Hollywood. She would die if anyone thought she was using them.

But do not mistake her kindness for weakness. I once saw her block an actress from as many restaurants as she could after she was rude to the catering staff at one of our office parties.

“However, my treats are to serve as bribery to find out why Blair was having lunch with Grant Hall and Sophia Ford yesterday. Grant Hall doesn’t do lunch.” Jess has a smirk on her face as she stuffs another potato ball into her mouth.

I should have known that she would have heard about lunch.

“Pics?” I ask her. She would know if the paps got any shots.

“Not that I know of. I was talking to Wonderland’s head of PR when Grant’s assistant came by to give him a heads up just in case the press called.”

I fill her in on the lunch and admit it surprised me, too, when Grant scheduled lunch.

“You need to keep this to yourself, but I think he may have a little crush on Sophia.”

Stella’s and Jess’s heads snap to face me, and they gasp.

“Grant doesn’t date,” Jess says.

“Do you think Sophia likes him?” Stella asks.

I nod. “She mentioned she thought he was attractive. But everyone thinks he’s attractive, so hard to say.” I share that regardless of attraction, they both seemed to hit it off and had some passionate conversations about filmmaking and discussing some of their old favorites.

“Speaking of Sophia…have you seen Wyatt?” Jess taunts.

“You mean other than the time you basically forced him to drive me home?” I roll my eyes. I haven’t told anyone we kissed. I’m sure Jess is suspicious because I didn’t follow up with her at all. Not even to yell at her.

“I just wondered if you two are staying close.” She waggles her eyebrows and laughs.

“Ha, ha.” I try to play it cool as I walk back to my desk. “I saw him yesterday when I dropped Sophia off at her house.”
