“This is our stop,” he said close to her ear once more.

“That’s too bad,” Ty said. “I was just getting used to having you as a strong, warm mattress shielding me from the water.” She climbed off, then held her hand out to help him up. Memphis glanced at it, not sure he could hold onto her without tugging her back under the water. Of course, he still had the stick he’d picked up. He used that to steady himself as he took her hand.

He was about to step onto the bank when Ty wrapped one of her hands around his waist. He glanced down at the action before meeting her gaze. She was giving him those bedroom eyes again, heavy on the lids, as she’d done in the kitchen.

At once, Memphis recalled what Maverick told him yesterday. She likes you.Yes, it seemed she did. Which was good, because hereallyliked her.

Memphis let the stick drop back into the water and lifted his hand to cradle the back of Ty’s neck. With the other hand, he slid his fingers around the warm, hourglass curve of her hip.

Ty held his gaze for a blink, her hazel eyes fueling the flames of wonder and fascination he torched for this woman. Her focus dropped to his mouth as she licked her lips, leaving them slightly parted—an invitation he would not turn down.

Memphis’s pulse revved and raced like someone had just saidgo.

He spotted hints of a satisfied smile at her lips a second before his eyes closed. He loved knowing, without a doubt, that Ty wanted this too. He lowered his head another inch and, at last, pressed a soft, gentle kiss to her full, satin lips.

They were damp and cool on the surface, like her neck beneath his palm, but as he kissed her again, Ty’s lips further parting as she let out a sigh, he sensed the heat from within.

Yes.

A combination of hot and cold. Fire and ice.

Memphis pulled back half an inch, and a groan sounded low in his throat. So good.

He tilted his head, parted his lips, and came in for more than a mere sample or test. This time, her velvety tongue stroked his. Slick warmth and tantalizing heat.

Ty released a high, pleading whimper, as if he was drawing life’s breath from her lips. Perhaps he was; he’d never felt more invigorated. More alive.

He sandwiched her lower lip between his, then pulled back long and slow, savoring the taste of her. Just as they moved into another series of kisses, a rash of laughter sounded from further down the river. A group of tubers must be approaching.

Hesitantly, Memphis brought the kiss to a close. He’d be good for a minute while the group of kids floated by, but he wasn’t done with Ty yet. In fact, by the chemistry sparking between them, he figured they’d only just begun.
